I know eBay has a newsletter function as a selling tool, but for several reasons, I would rather not use that right now. I would much rather have a blogging system associated with my store homepage. The posts I would want to make there would not necessarily be related to any one product I have for sale but rather a discussion of the industry - in my case, affordable watches for now, but I will be expanding to other markets. Does eBay have anything like this, or is there some kind of third-party tool that could link an eBay store to a simple blogging system?

@bajasierra years ago, ebay did have a (short-lived, little used) blog as a store accessory. There is no such thing now. (I've been requesting it since they reviised the store design a couple years ago, but without any luck.)
And technically, if you create your own off-ebay blog, you can have a link from your blog to your ebay store, but not the other way round: you can't link your blog from your store without violating ebay rules.

Well, that sucks. I can't even have a link on my eBay store? It seems to me that means it really isn't my store.

You can include a link to the blog as an enclosure with packages you send to buyers. But that's about it.
Which is one reason I've been asking ebay to give us the ability to have a blog as an optional accessory to our ebay store. I don't have much hope that they will do so, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
