A.I. is ruining ebay.......

I have really had enough of the A.I. takeover. I am 69 years old and have been in sales since 1971 and when I retired, I missed selling and started selling on ebay.   I know what to do, how to list, how to write my own description.  People near my age have common sense and were prepared for future learning by 8th grade.  Ebay was built on "AUCTIONS", they do not have to RECREATE something that has worked for a very long time.  I believe we were all doing better before the last 24 UPDATES.

Please also stop showing "less results" when you search for an item, we pay enough in fees and should not have to "PROMOTE" anything for our listings to "SHOW UP". I would like to have the OPTION of opting in or out of ANYTHING regarding selling on this platform.  I, during many conversations, have stated that eBay should stop trying to become like AMAZON.....it is a totally different customer.  Just like automobiles, a dedicated Cadillac buyer is probably never going to become a Volvo buyer, even though they basically are providing the same service.

Please listen to your sellers! I do not have a "store" and do not want one.

No, AI pulls keywords FROM the title (as well as ISs) and creates a description- if you play around with it you'll see right away how it works. It's very primitive. Sometimes when I get bored listing I write a mock listing with dopey title and silly specifics and hit the button. I don't use AI otherwise.

When eBay makes suggestions, regarding use of new features for example, i continue to follow my own judgement on what is useful.

Recall my first introduction to the "computer age" with a required course in college Fortran program and IBM punch cards.  computers were in a large  temperature controlled room with  large spools all over the place and  staff  producing  punch cards, engineer  drawing were created on  drawing boards with paper and lead pencils with eracers, the first cell phones were as  big as a loaf of bread carried around on a suitable shoulder bag _Mitsubishi was of of the first to come out with one  I worked for them in Houston TX, was issued a IBM  Think Pad Laptop $4900 each our cost I was 50 y.o. then - had to learn it pronto as it was sink or swim time - made the  grade. Oh you could lock thos IMBs up.  Our  first flat screen a 37" Visio  was $747.00 bought at  K-Mart  cheaper than at Walmart 20 + years ago.  It still working fine.  Yep  change is good.  Guess  next  year  or so this  80 y.o. will need to buy a  newer PC in Oct. as Microsoft 10 will no longer be supported in October 2025 for no charge  **bleep** I say..Have to learn something new again and create  new cuss words

Back in the early ‘70’s, they were having this family day thing out at the space center.  My dad worked for NASA, and he showed me this room with these computers the size of refrigerators and these enormous tape reels that had the data.  When I worked a particular job from 1988 to 1993, the floppy disks for the computer there were 7 inches.
Now?  I’m writing this on a small iPad.  For better or for worse, times do change.  Everywhere.

Thank you for expanding my vocabulary! I live with someone that I could definitely use logorrhea in our conversations (if I ever get a chance to get a word in).

Since you do not have any feedback as a seller,  please do what you feel is useful.

I agree and understand the reasons to "Embrace change".  What I do not agree with, for example is looking for an item for myself that has the same "DESCRIPTION VERBIAGE" for over 20 or so of the same items.  The individuality, size/measurement description and personal touch is no longer there.  Robotic jargon is there.

It was called Fortran programing with IBM punch card typing.  Had a required course in 1965 - new right away I never wanted to play with at  stuff for a living.  Fast  forward when I'm 50 I enjoyed  my first IMB Think Pad and the Micro Soft Office  software - had to learn it fast or  find the exit door -  we  had no more secretarial help (they were  our teachers and  worked only for our group top manager (a VP).

OH  by the way  AI must be controlling Spell Check and Auto Fill - it  likes to  incorrectly change word spelling ( like son for sun)  but is  real funky about not providing the correct spelling option for a typo that is only 1  letter off. Gotta' go back  an proof read every friggin' word.  It is not that I'm typing too fast - 26 wpm in high school on a manual typewriter.  In college only dated young ladies that were good looking, fun, like to dance, pleasant etc. and willing to type my assignments  w/o charge. For other assignments could print very well and fast.

Did you ever see someone drop a whole tray of those punch cards on the floor? I did in tech school when I was coming out of chem lab and saw someone trip over his feet and the tray just dumped. Cards slid everywhere. I thought the poor kid was going to burst into tears. If I had been wearing a hat, I would have removed it in sympathy.
