Did you mean:

98.5 % of postal workers get to keep their jobs.

Getting tired of all the chicken littles clucking about 10,000 workers being laid off - out of a work force of 663,000 workers. That is 1.5% of the work force. And for that little number you're clutching your pearls? Seriously?

Couple that with all the complaints about sales being down. Well if we are shipping less then they don't need as many workers in the first place.

"Nobody is being fired at random."

And nobody is getting rehired at random when these random firings keep getting overturned by the courts.

Re: 98.5 % of postal workers get to keep their jobs.

Departments are being audited, programs are being terminated, and the employees in those departments are losing their jobs on the basis of those audits and terminations. That is not random. That is a clear and deliberate process.  It's also not personal (no one is being fired because they're black, brown, or female... even if they were given their positions on that basis).  The decisions are being made on the basis of fiscal utility, which is NOT random.

I'll be happy to agree to disagree, even without insulting you. 😊

@greatstuff810

Small communities would still be served.   PO in the little town that I lived in was shut down over 40 years ago.  Service became rural delivery from 12+ miles away.

Post offices are not money makers. Nearly every office under Level 18 operates at a substantial loss.

Also, I do know very well ...........  what they put clerks and other employees through.  Been there, did that for over  19 years. Transitional non-career carrier relief. Career part time carrier. Career part time flexible clerk. O.I.C. of small offices for nearly 3 years. (while required to work every Saturday at my assigned office)

I realize that many clerks and carriers spend their entire day taking care of postal business, and their customers, but I also know that there are many small offices that once the mail is boxed, they have little or nothing to do.

But Trump said, “The golden age of America has only just begun. It will be like nothing that has ever been seen before."

So who should I believe?

I also think if you want to cut waste, you should lead by example, not just pick on the average Joe.

What kind of example is made when POTUS spends $18.2 million on golf weekends, plus makes a profit on SS staying at his properties?

Or Musk receiving $8 million per day of tax payer money?

I'm one of the thousands and thousands who wouldn't dare kudo anything here. It is some entertaining reading, though. 🙂

Re: 98.5 % of postal workers get to keep their jobs.

I find it very entertaining.  I enjoy reading different points of view.  I admire and respect a well-reasoned argument from anyone on any side.  Sadly, it seems that, here, one side (with a handful of exceptions of course) seems almost entirely dedicated to disparaging anyone who disagrees with them, resorting to ad hominem attacks, carping, and disjointed strings of nearly indecipherable gibberish, rather than the clear articulation of a position.  What's even sadder is that it looks like a good many of them don't even realize that "orange man bad" isn't an argument any more than "do you hear yourself??" is.

Oh well, hopefully they'll figure it out before 2026.  It's gonna be one heck of a tough climb back up from 27% if not.

Re: 98.5 % of postal workers get to keep their jobs.

Fox also ran a story on it on their website which surprised me. But they still haven't said a word about Trumps spiritual advisor being arrested for lewd acts with a child, and only did a 1 minute blurb on the MN Republican arrested this week for soliciting a minor. Also they never covered his 2016 advisors who plead guilty to child porn.  And if you can recall the MN Republican arrested is the guy who co- sponsored the "Trump derangement syndrome" bill.

Great links, but MAGA cult members will have an answer for them.
