I agree with your assessment of tariffs!, & It's good to see you have had a change of heart, because I remember you were constantly being rude & calling me names & degrading me, So It's great to see you have changed.

It must be a cult & they have all been brainwashed. Or we have become a society who awards the Bad & punishes the good, Who accept Absurd & unjust as the new norm, Who do not care if our Democracy, Our Constitution, & Our Rule Of Law stay intact!, God Help Us!

Re: 90 Day Pause on Tariffs....

It's now nearly 80 countries that suddenly feel overjoyed about negotiating a new trade deal with the largest economy in the world per GDP at $30 trillion usd.  A tariff is a bargaining tool.  It's so nice to have great leadership that cares deeply about our country.

In other exciting and breaking news, Trump just secured an additional $1 trillion usd in domestic investments, pushing the new total to an astronomical $7 trillion of new domestic investments.  Get ready to feel more prosperous!

Well it gets repeated because the multitude of other names to call him can't be used here.

That's very necessary

I don't know how many recall this, but his desire for a military parade goes back to his first term, after he was so impressed by a military parade he had seen conducted in North Korea; he specifically cited Kim Jung Un's control over his people, how they had to stand and watch such presentations with rapt attention and respect.

Trump's obsession with having one of these displays of power is one of many ways he reminds me of Caligula, who himself wanted a 'triumph' (Roman military parade following a victory) even though he hadn't had any real victories.  So the Roman Senate denied him, but then he just staged one anyway, including having a bridge built at great expense, so that the triumph could parade past the Senators' homes, to flaunt his autocracy.

Like I said, just one of many similarities.

It really saddens me how even many people who get the madness overall don't realize the "pause" was not a total pause, and that we're actually still in for a world of hurt.  And that it's about so much more than the stock market.

He stated in another thread a few days ago that although he is still "as conservative as it gets" he sees how insane and stupid these tariffs games are (I'm paraphrasing; he put it much more eloquently).

Re: 90 Day Pause on Tariffs....

The Cleveland Clinic at top shelf research hospital  published an article on the effects of agent orange as of a very current  date - interesting read - https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/24689-agent-orange-effects

Back in the day  US planes actually sprayed AO on top of  our own troops during the LBJ/Westmoreland   years.  Vietnam was  only declared a war well  after the US pulled out it was a "conflict" = not full VA benefits Pres.  Richard Nixon (1973?) did well after  we pulled out to get vet full benefits at last..

Oh took my physical at the request of my Selective Service  Board in 1968 - it was mandatory for  18 yo males do so..  Got almost all As on the testing  & physical - was 23 then.

Speaking of military parades, Lithuania held a dignified transfer of 4 fallen US soldiers.

Our commander in Chief was unable to attend.

He was at a golf tournament, which he won.

 YOU HEAR THAT EVERYONE?

The rest of the world is "overjoyed" about the tariffs.

There are people out there who actually believe that.

Re: 90 Day Pause on Tariffs....

@gurlcat

Indeed.  Many people wonder why Mr. Trump has such an affinity for Vladimir Putin.

The reason is quite simple:  Mr. Trump envies Mr. Putin, because Mr. Putin is able to run Russia the way Mr. Trump would like to run — but can only fantasize about running  — the United States.

Parenthetically, I heard on the radio today Mr. Trump talking about his relationship with the Chinese president. He called Mr. Xi “a good friend.“

Given that Beijing is going to to toe with the United States in this battle over tariffs, and in my estimation will *not* be the party that backs down, I have to question Mr. Trump‘s judgment about people he regards as his “friends.“

Never mind the fact that Mr. Xi believes that China is well positioned to replace the United States as the world‘s most powerful global force.

Something tells me that Mr. Xi does not see Mr. Trump as a “friend.”
