70 Feedback Revisions and I'm the Scammer?

I'm just curious how this works - I had a customer buy some lip balms and then about 12 days later bought another pack.  She wanted all 11 to be berry flavored (as they were mixed) but that wasn't how I had the auctions set up and I wasn't going to take them down and switch them around (why should I).  The first one had 7 of the berry and she wanted 11.  So then she purchased the second  bunch which had 3 more berry.  No Problem - then I got a negative for the 2nd batch saying that I was cheating and only sent her 2 berry.  No I know I sent them all because that was all I had and I counted them before I shipped them BUT I would have credited her just the same but she never gave me the option.  Then it dawned on me that with the first 7 and the 3 from the next was 10 lip balms.  If I happened to have an extra (which I did not) and would have sent it she would have had the 11 she wanted in the first place.

I ended up going into her feedback and it turns out she has a long history of doing this - starting with her very first purchase back in 2009.  She gets the items - then complains and gives negatives.  The seller then works with her to get the negative removed and then she revises her negative.  She has had 72 feedback revisions if I counted correctly and many negatives that I'm sure sellers like me just decided that it was too much trouble to argue with Ebay to get them fixed.  Eventually after I figured out she was scamming I decided to call Ebay - here is what I was told - I already reported her so there is nothing to do except that I should work it out with her to get my feedback revised (they wouldn't take the negative off).  I said she never bothered to contact me and she is scamming - I don't want to work with someone like this.  And here is the best part and a first for me (since 2002)- I was told that the Large Companies have to put up with this type of behavior so I will just have to deal with it.  In other words, I should just quit whinning because after all the larger companies have to tolerate it too!

And here is the kicker at the end, she is still buying and giving out negatives and then feedback revisions.  There has been 2 in the last few days - 1 was a negative and I see now that she change it to a postive and the very next one has also got  a feedback revision.

What was the point of reporting this if they are not going to fix it?  I reported this in the 24th of Oct and she is still doing it as of the 5th.

I just wish that your reply to the neg was like this:  "Sorry it might be a human 0.15 oz error on my part, but YOU pulled this stunts on sellers 72 times and counting?" or something similar.

You need to mention that she did this repeatedly many many times in your reply.  So in future something can be done about...maybe a policy change (you never know...we can always dream.  🙂  Or sellers social media...

I understand that when we take a hit like that our blood could be boiling so we may not think clearly for a moment.  And wanted to punch back right away.  Actually this type of neg doesn't do much harm.

Did you use USPS?  Seriously, report her for postal fraud.  SHe's using the USPS in order to steal.

That's awful.  I would try sending a private message to the eBay For Business Facebook page.  They might be more helpful.

Reporting does help.  After enough sellers report them they do get suspended.  But most wont because they think its just a wast of time .  Its not .  Report and block.  Best regards

Thanks for your reply!

Yes I always use USPS but she didn't claim that she didn't get as she does in many of her cases, she is only stating that I shorted her one and of course if I would send it then that would give her the 11 she wanted in the first place.  As a good seller I would have refunded her for the one or sent another if I had it and I wouldn't have questioned it at all.  I would have just taken the blame although I know for a fact that she got what was in the auction.   I do think she has gotten away with this because no one caught on - she gives the negative and then sellers scramble to get her to reverse it so they don't have their businesses hurt by that stupid feedback system.  Because of her I went from 5.0 stars down to 4.6 (I asked when I called if anyone else had given me low stars - no she gave me all 1's in the 3 areas (she couldn't touch the shipping time as that is out of our hands so that remained at 5.0)  So stupid and Ebay wouldn't do anything about that either.

She has been doing this since 2009 - that is a lot of years and a lot of negatives and feedback revisions.  I cannot believe I'm the only one to compain in all these years.  Even the CS rep stated there seemed to be a problem and yet 15 days later she is still doing it.

I agree that your buyer does this a lot and should be reported and hopefully stopped.  But you bear part of the blame as well.  Your picture shows 10 lip balm, including 3 of the berry.  Then your description says 9 lip balm and 2 berries.  Many people only look at the picture and don't read the description, especially on a phone.  Your picture should match the description or you are open to things like this.

You are so right and I didn't even catch that either and as I said I would have taken the blame and either sent another one or refunded for the missing one but was never given the option and that is where I believe Ebay is wrong in this system of feedback and scores.

I realize that Ebay always sides with the buyers and that is ok - however how is it that my credibility is damaged by one mistake and then there is a buyer that contiuallys buys and then gives negatives and then retracts the feedback?  She has had 2 feedback revisions right after my negative and the very next one was a negative but they buyer must have contacted her to correct the situation.  Despite my mistake with the picture (and I agree that was a big mistake on my part) is it possible that all these people that she is doing business with have made mistakes?  I find the odds a bit off.

yeah. I noticed that reporting a bad buyer doesn't help at all. ebay doesn't do anything with the reports. Once again, buyers win and sellers lose. So unfair and sad

The buyer does sound as if they are taking advantage of the system in some or many cases and one would think that ebay would pay attention to that.

Honestly, I don't think a single negative hurts someone's credibility however, the reponse to that negative can harm a seller more than the actual negative itself.

Feedback revisions show for SELLERS, not buyers...

Feedback revisions are given from buyers to the sellers that they previously given negatives - is that what your saying?
