This is not new. It has been on many, many promotions in the past. More often than not it is attached to promos given out at the beginning of the month. If you use up your monthly allotment, then the promo listings, you're left with nothing for the rest of the month without paying additional listing fees. It's about generating more revenue.

Wife got 500 auction promotion on her account. 3rd time this year for the auction style, + one offer for 500 fixed. She can barely make a dent in that many.

Did not get those offers on mine. Did get the extra 50 for Feb, and extra 50 for Apr

Yes, it's always in the fine print. No big deal if you accepted, just don't use it if you want to reserve your monthly listings to space throughout the month. Some of the promos right now require you to use monthly allotment first and some don't. Depends which one you got. Just check the terms.

I also have a secondary non-store account and used to use it for auctions. I got tired of toggling between two accounts though. The hassle is not worth saving 15 cents for auctions.

When I tried to use it the listing came off my monthly tally not the promo. Thinking maybe this is one of those sly "but first you have to use up all your monthly allotment" deals

They usually come off in the order they are in My eBay Promotions. The special is at the top, so I expect it to go first.

Of course, it is for Fixed Price only, so any Auction listing would come off the 50 monthly.

I got 500 FP listings for 7 days. Trouble is, THEY are using my 50 free listings first. I did NOT see anything in the "fine print" stating this and I am not a happy camper. I'll be calling them tomorrow. I'm hoping it's a glich because I won't use all my monthly allottment in the first week of the month.

May be a dumb question, but did you activate it? Sometimes people forget that they need to be activated first.

I also got the 100 fixed price 30 day listing promo, and when I went to use it the listings came off my 50 monthly listings even though the promo is at the top of the list and all listings should come off that first. I've read the terms three times and there is no mention that it is good only after the monthly allotment is used,

OK, I just listed one item for Fixed Price for 30 days and it came off the 50. Time to call eBay.

Grrrr is right. So I just lucked out. The upshot is even if you get a promo, you probably can't use it.

Same here. Listed a 30 day fixed and it came off of my 50 free montly insertions. This is the first time it has happened to me, but I will say I was concerned when I read the title of the promo and saw the word "extra." That has never been a part of any promotions I received in the past....I don't think.

Anyone call eBay yet and get a more detailed answer? In other words, is this our new normal??

Oh yeah, I activated it and read the terms carefully. No indication the additional free listings would be AFTER I had used my monthly's. This is not the first time I've used such promotions but it's the first time the listings registered on the monthly's before the promo.
