$600 SSN

I have grossed $458 total up to now, since January. No refunds were counted. $214 of that $458 is being put on hold until I give my SSN.

Where in TOS does it say you can hold my funds and not release them until I hand over my SSN. I don't recall signing anything to agree to that.

Can you show me the law or directive from the government allowing you to  freeze peoples funds?

Wouldn't it make sense to send this out after the tax year is concluded or allow people to get their funds and then send out the warning about putting future transactions on hold.

Been with you 13 years, and it's the worst behavior I have seen of any e-commerce store.

/\  Agreed. I am that person who DOES spend time reading a full TOS contract. I annoy car dealers, banks and real estate agents too, who try to fast track me by saying, " you dont have to read the whole thing... Simply, this just says..."

Oh, no you don't. Cancel your afternoon appointments and put on another pot of coffee, we are going to be here a while. There are many SUBTLE things that will come to bite you later if you just breeze through and agree to ANYTHING. The SSN requirement here is no different.

In today's world, and in this case specifically, you can automatically assume that you WILL need to fork over your SSN for online money transactions. And it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

@spark-chaser1

Same here, the biggest guarantee that we will sit here while I read these is you saying, "I do not need to read them".

Funny story though was when I said I did not need to read something at a meeting and the closing attorney was like you need to, they are important and my response was no, I actually wrote them for the company, I know what is in them lol.  I did give him brownie points for being on point though.

I am constantly amazed at people that willy nilly give up their bank account information to an entity but never take the time to read what they agreed to.  Then they get mad when they come to a screeching halt because of something they agreed to.

Re: $600 SSN

Precisely. I don't like being fast tracked by someone in a $2000 saville row suit holding the pen out saying " trust me, its all good".

Yeah, I'm sure it is " all good". Lets read all about how " all good " it is, then we will talk.

A lot of TOS and other contracts are wordy and use words such as  " subject to change without notice" for a reason...  Protect yourself by being diligent, or pay the consequences.

Re: $600 SSN

Regarding total sales, its about $650. My gross to date is about $458 after refunds. I never grossed over $600 at any one time.

and there you have it. 1099-K reporting is based on "gross" sales, and you have met the threshold.

Refunds are a deduction taken on the IRS tax return

End of story.

The TOS explains what it is for and why.  Ebay can't transfer the money you earn on this site to you without your banking info period.  And they have requirements due to FEDERAL laws.

Re: $600 SSN

Right. So therefore it pays to

Read every single word of that TOS before clicking " agree". Too many/ most people dont, and then get upset when they are asked to do what they " agreed" to do.
