Does anyone else think this is a bit extreme especially for Used Clothing. So can buy an item wear for 29 days and ask for a return. Shouldn't this be left up to the selller to decide how many days for a return? If the buyer is aware and oky with a 14 day return then so be it. Seems as if Ebay is micro managing a bit to much

Actually, I've read a couple of surveys (can't link them) that say the longer return time doesn't really increase returns. That most do return within the 14 days, if they are going to return. And that's really the reason firms have no problem with longer return windows.....Whether that will change or if it holds true on ebay, I don't know.
I do know arguing about it with ebay is probably a waste of time......

As a used clothing seller I think 30 day returns (or the 180 day returns on paypal) is a pile of bull patties. But the problem is not the marketing spin that ebay is mesmerizing buyers into thinking is great - the problem is how more and more buyers think that abuse is ok.
I lean to selling holiday clothing in season, like Christmas sweaters, Halloween costumes, ect and if a buyer wants to 'rent' the item, they are going to and a limited time to make the return will make no difference. If they want a Halloween costume, they buy it a week before the party - it gets delivered two days before the party - they wear it to the party ---- and then the next morning they will file the snad return. Using that time frame, it doesn't matter if you have 7 days or 30 day return, the scam is on.
A lot of the buyers that cash in on ebay's policies to make them lazy, become so lazy that it's too much work to send the item back. I just closed a case that sat open 30 days waiting on the buyer to return the garment, never did. The real problems are the scammers that are making a career of it, and a seller can not count on ebay to deal with them - because they generalt ebay a lot more fees than an honest buyer ever will. But the seller can deal with them by going to outside authorities, like the PO or the buyers police dept, and reporting their actions and getting them on outside radar.

I'm a bit concerned over a mobility scooter[ local pick up only] I listed last night when it comes to returns . I believe I covered every base with photo's and a complete description . It doesn't have working batteries and I made that clear in the listing . I gave the type of batteries it would need as well as an aprox price . The batteries would need to be purchased seperate by the new owner . I received a question from a potential buyer asking if there's enough juice in the old batteries just to see if the scooter runs properly ? Good question , however I replied sorry but no it does not, no batteries at all . They replied that my 30 day free return policy puts their mind at ease and of course that makes sense . If a buyer is going to take the chance of buying batteries and then doesn't want the scooter then they will get their money back . However I made it clear that only the initial purchase price would be refunded . I don't want to be on the hook for any extra out of pocket expenses of the new buyer. The batteries run about 100 dollars . So I guess the thing that concerns me the most is a possible 30 day rental . You know like great ! we can take grandma on vacation with us and use the scooter for a full month then get our money back '' . The only cost would be in the batteries but we could always just sell those . I don't know , maybe its paranoid thinking but I know things like this happen . Tulips

I sell fabric, patterns and books for making quilts.. I don't know of, nor have I ever heard of a return on any of these 3 items in any quilt shop,, However, Ebay wants to turn it's self into a WalMart! I don't know of a book store,, Video store or quilt shop that allows returns much less when a buyer has had time to read, watch or copy the items then return for not only full refund but have the seller pay for the return postage..
Then on top of that when they do the NOT AS DESCRIBED sellers are screwed again. For crying out loud,, there is a picture of the fabic there,, 1 yard is 36" and width is stated 44/45" How the heck is that piece of fabric NOT AS DESCRIBED??
I lost my top rated seller status when my dad died 4-1/2 years ago, Ebay said there was no excuse for my not getting my items shipped out on time.. REALLY??? I'm 3 states away!!!
My thoughts are that EBAY has turned into a BULLY! Then they wonder why so many people are turning to Amazon and Etsy!!!

In this case you should not use Paypal cash on pickup only. MBG does not apply then.

depends on what the picture is.
I bought fabric that had a close up shot of the pattern. no mention that they had a pic of a 4inch by 4 inch piece of the fabric. Seriosly, I can't imagine using it for anything other than a dollhouse.

@turquoisetulips Are you going to ask for cash as payment? You really shouldn’t accept PayPal for this item, I know you are required to but cash is best. Because ebay doesn’t treat local pickup SNADs any different than when you ship and they will make you pay to have that scooter SHIPPED if the buyer files SNAD and paid with PayPal. If that happens, hopefully the buyer is cooperate and brings it back to you. But if they won’t, you have to pay for return shipping!

Should have been in the description if it was just a scrap. Mine has all that,, anything you can ask for mine has in the description but now Ebay has our descriptions hidden and most of the buyers don't bother to see the "read more" button..

Ebay just doesn't go out of their way to tell the buyer to use the read more botton ,based on how they placed it in the listing .
