30 day hold on payments over $999.00

(Buyer) I just bought and paid for something that was over 1K on ebay.

And Ebay will not transfer my payment to the sellers account for 30 days.

(seller) Apparently the deal on the hold is ebays newest policy. every transaction over $999 is held for 30 days. No matter what.

(Buyer) With the millions upon millions of dollars ebay is now holding for 30 days, who is getting all that interest, the sellers? I don't think so.
This sounds like a money-interest scam, ...shame on you ebay.

Ebay is not holding the funds, Ayden is, and will continue to do so on large transactions.

eBay has stated in the Managed Payments  policy that they do not earn interest on pending payments, payments scheduled for payout, or payments that are in the process of getting paid out.

Just price everything $998.99 with free shipping, problem solved.

That is only for sellers that don't sell full time and/or don't normally sell things for that much. The hold is not for everyone.

What's up with this "conversation" you posted? Who are these two people? Are you the buyer? Are you the seller? Did this dialogue really take place, or is it something you heard about?

Is there a question in there somewhere? Or a point of discussion?

yes, it's me the buyer and the seller texting/talking.

Just another thing on the long list of problems ebay has created.

You're the buyer? Is the seller someone from whom you made a purchase? Or a friend who sells on eBay? If you're the buyer, why did you post this on the selling board?

Is there a point you'd like to discuss? I don't understand why you seem to be so vague about what you're trying to say.

Who made interest on all that money when PayPal put a seller's payouts on hold? I don't recall that you posted any objections to that procedure when PayPal did it.

Is the seller giving you grief about it, or refusing to ship until the money is in their account? If so, they can't do that. They need to ship within their handling time.

Well, this must be a "really new" buying thing - we bought and paid for a Lobster ball machine over the weekend on our buying account at $1200 and it was delivered to us today.  There was no Buyer "hold' on an item purchased over $999.

Your SELLER might have a hold, but all I know is it hit my Discover card right away and the Seller shipped the ball machine to us.  Extra long power cord set to arrive tomorrow in parcel 2.  This makes no sense.

Wrong. The tax charged is going to put the transaction 70 to 100 (depending on what state the buyer is in) over that 999.99 threshold.
