25 Ebay.com transactions or 25 US based transactions to get direct payment

Hello All,

I am getting more and more confused and frustrated by this payment being held thing.

On the site it says: 25 transactions and the other things (do have the other things nailed, this is just about the transaction count). Nowhere does it says it has to be 25 transactions to US customers. It just says transactions. Now I also sell on Ebay.nl, but I understood earlier that those transactions do not count (even better money is directly available with Ebay.nl transactions).

Now I have sold more then 25 items through Ebay.com. So I thought my funds would be directly available. But it is still being held. Sended customer support a message and they come up with different counts of what I sold every time. Last message stated that I had to make 25 transactions with USA based buyers.

So which of the two is it? Because this is getting a bit silly since I sold 47 things and still have to whait for my money :S

Hope anybody has the anwser.

Stephen

I'd love to clarify, Stephen! The buyer's registration address would have something to do with it. They would need to be registered to the US site for the transaction to count. Again, I truly apologize for any frustration and we'll look to get this updated for you.

Hi @dutchdealer - I apologize for any confusion that's been caused on this! When it comes to the Funds Availability requirements, they do have to be US transactions. I can see where that isn't made clear here: http://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/payments-and-fees/funds-availability.html and I'll put in the suggestion to have that updated.

Re: 25 Ebay.com transactions or 25 US based transactions to get direct payment

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for your reply, finally some answers. But could please clear this up for me?

So if I make a listing on ebay.com and a buyer buys while logged in on (lets say) ebay.co.uk, does that sale counts as one of the 25 needed or not? I.E. is the location of the buyer the factor, or on what page (ebay.com, ebay.co.uk, ebay.nl etc etc) the listing was created?

If you can help me with that it would finally make clear to me what is expected of me to get my funds directly.

Kind regards,

Stephen

I have a suggestion too. We've had a poster lately that was fussing about getting off restriction for being a returning seller. They claimed they had 90 transactions - well, they did, but not in the last 12 months.  That time limit isn't mentioned in the copy of the policy I look at.

Could the time frame for these regulation be clearly stated?

@Anonymous Could you please clear one more thing up for me? If one buyer buys several listings in one buy, lets say 4 items (not as a lot, different listings), does this count as one transaction? Or does it count as 4 transactions?

Hope you can help me with that last piece of information so that I understand the entire process.

Kind regards,

Stephen

Re: 25 Ebay.com transactions or 25 US based transactions to get direct payment

There has always been a requirement that 90 days have passed since the first successful sale (indicated by positive feedback) before the hold will be released. eBay considers sellers a new seller when they have a time lapse in sales, but there needs to be some sort of standardized explanation so sellers will know what to expect!

Further, the "25" has always only referred to domestic transactions, which means transactions that took place on eBay.com - not to the geographic location of the buyer!!  What possible reason could there be to limit transactions to U.S. buyers?!?

Anyway, that page has been moved out of the policies, which is always distressing because eBay never puts out a notice of policy change or even bothers to date their policies.  They just poof or change without notice or explanation, leaving us posers (unpaid customer care for eBay) in a lurch to provide WRITTEN policies or to know current policies...not to be confused with how eBay actually implements policies, such as the ubiquitous "item condition on return" requirement that "protects sellers" which is a complete lie!

Some of the policies are linked to PayPal from the previous eBay policy page. https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/why-is-my-payment-from-a-sale-on-ebay-on-hold-faq1377

@quiltgeek - There are similar holds that could be placed if a seller goes inactive for a period of time. Those holds aren't a standard Funds Availability hold as Stephen is referencing and would need to be reviewed manually for additional information.

Hi Stephen -  A transaction is defined by an item number. A transaction can be a multiple quantity or a package of items. For example, if a member buys a package of 3 screen protectors, the 3 items are part of one transaction. Alternatively, if they purchase 5 pens on a multiple quantity listing; all 5 are part of 1 transaction. It seems different item numbers would count as separate transactions.

Re: 25 Ebay.com transactions or 25 US based transactions to get direct payment

@Anonymous Thank you for that explanation .

So yesterday I sold 6 items to a US based customer. I went to my seller dashboard and refined my sales on US region. The counter is now at 27, it has been over 90 days and I made enough sales in $. Do I have to whait till 20-04-17 when my account is reviewed again to get the payment holding restrictions removed? Or is that going to happen on a shorter timeframe. I am not going to pin you on exact dates, just a ballpark figure would be helpfull.

Thank you for your help so far.

Of course! If the sales took place yesterday, the Funds Availability hold should no longer impact you today moving forward. It is a full calendar day after the requirements are met before the restrictions are lifted. Keep an eye on your next transaction and if that's not the case, let me know; I'd love to look into it!

Hi Stephen- You should only have to meet the requirements on the site you're registered to. That said, I would encourage you to reach out to our customer service teams: https://ocsnext.ebay.nl/ocs/home to have them review the transactions with funds being held. They'll be able to take a closer look and get into the specifics of what may be happening here to help.
