If you're OK taking 20% less. Lower the price 20% and tell the buyer they can buy it.
Or enable offers and have them offer whatever the price is at 20% less.
Potential issue that can come up is the coupon working all of a sudden. Can be an issue with the first idea. Not sure if it is possible with the second. Can always disable the coupon I guess just in case maybe.

I have no experience with coupons but I would do as others have suggested - simply lower the price.

Another option is them buying the item and refunding the difference. I believe eBay is supposed to start prorating fees this month. I don't know if it's taken effect yet.

You can commumiate via messages with them and give them a % refund if the coupon code is not working. Its happened to me and buyer was more than happy with the % refund.

The easy solution is to have the buyer pay the full total as normal. Then, you issue a 20% discount. Just clearly explain the solution to the buyer & they should be perfectly OK.
Good luck & go get the sale!

Seriously why is eBay offering 20% off when there is no way I am giving 20% off anything. I told a buyer who inquired to go ahead and order and if eBay does not give the discount out of their own pocket she can cancel the order. I wish eBay would either quit this or give a clear explanation about how it works.

This thread is from 2022.
You currently don't have a 20% off sale. Any 20% off coupon offer eBay is advertising has nothing to do with your items. That discount is for select sellers items.
