I sell this perfume called "Joy" in a little sample glass vial. It sells pretty well. I sold 11 so far today.
My competitor sells the exact same item for half of what I sell it for, even less if you buy more than one.
Question #1:
Why are people buying it from me? LOL
Question #2:
My comp's listing shows a product rating. Mine does not.
I would like to get that on my listing.
I noticed my comp's listing has a UPC number and mine does not.
Will adding a UPC number to my listing make the product rating show up?

They are buying it from you because you are SPECIAL. Just keep doing what you are doing and don't screw it up. Wait till it stops selling and then screw it up.

#1: That great 'word of mouth' you got goin' on.
#2: Don't fix if it ain't broke.

Those buyers must know that you are the best seller on eBay?

Probably because they are finding yours and not finding your competition's.

Yes. The product reviews are tied to the UPC. Without a UPC, there is no way to know your item is the same as your competition's.
But beware that UPCs can be a double-edged sword.
The minute you add the UPC to your listing, eBay can now positively conclude that your item is the same as your competition's. And that "connection" via UPC is what will help eBay to put your competition's listing right on your listing page in the "Related items" section.

Because ebay is greedy and wants to charge more fees from you LOL
Because ebay`s algorithm is the least intelligent one among all platforms.
Nothing personal 😄

Good to know. Thank you. I guess I'll leave it alone.
The last thing I want is for my buyers to cancel their orders because they found a cheaper one.

I have learned over the years; the lower price doesn't always get the sale.
I don't have the answers to your questions. I just know hard work pays off.

Sometimes people buy yours because of high feedback ratings and positive comments. (At least that's how I think I sell lots of stuff on here when it's cheaper in other listings).
Someone gave a Royal Canadian Mint coin of mine a horrid review. Somehow a UPC got tied to that listing. I list everything fresh, so when I had another one I put it up (without relisting), and poof, the bad review is gone.
I think keywords is most important in advertising your listing (and I do promos, the percentage if sold from a sponsored listing). I go to my competition's listings on stamp albums and they all have my listings showing up at the bottom as sponsored. These guys are doing auctions and can't promote those, so they don't have any of their own listings promoted. eBay has determined that we sell similar stuff (and there's truth to that, because all my stuff originated in albums that I took apart).

It's called "joy" and it is being shipped from "in hawaii"...... nothing screams JOY like Hawaii......lol
Whatever it is, you likely just jinxed it.
Think of something the "opposite" of JOY - say it LOUDLY 3 times. Drink 1 Brewski whilst doing the thinking.
You should now be "un-jinxed". Carry on with your JOY!

Just leave well enough alone.
Is that Eau d'Joy? That's one of only two perfumes/colognes that don't doesn't smell like bug spray on me.
*I don't want those grammar police after me.

My goodness James, we all know your #1 and just too cool for words, your like the " Lenny Kravitz " of Hawaii. That's why they are buying your Joy, because you bring Joy!
Merry Christmas

Your competitors product does not bring about the same amount of "joy" as yours does.

Your competition doesn't have Perfume in the title, instead they used EDP. That could cause them to be lower on the search results page (items with fewer words matches) if someone searches using Perfume...
As already stated don't fix it if it isn't broken!
