@ospreyoutdoors67 NFT is Non-Fungible Token...you know, like those silly ape pictures that were a fad during the pandemic. 😂

BREAKING NEWS - eBay slips further behind Amazon, shrinking below the 10% of value that they have been delivering to their sellers when compared with Amazon.
eBay recently decided to double down on these policies that have been driving their decline:
How soon will someone with eBay founder Pierre Omidyar's love for economically empowering sellers hasten eBay's decline with a marketplace that is better for sellers than both eBay and Amazon?
That marketplace will also be better for buyers.
And will make PLENTY of money by prioritizing doing good for sellers and buyers over doing good for the marketplace's investors and executives.

I'm not a store, I don't care about the 'enhancements'. I DO care about the new tax threshold , the tax on postage & tax, the 1099K reporting, the increased final valueless. What used to be a fun experience has become a **bleep** experience. I'm looking for (waiting for) a new venue

I can handle the shipping part but not the taxes. The good ole days you could get away with 1¢ listing with $20 shipping!

They just keep passing the buck, it doesn't matter where I put my product's because I'm in same category no matter what, so I'm always over the limit being charged. And plus I can't stand why they can't give Plumbing a real Category IT"S NOT HOME AND GARNDEN, I get the home part I guess🤔 but when you go to big box stores you think of Plumbing😀 the only thing outside of your house is a lawn faucet "For Water Hose" so the Garden part don't see to many people selling water hoses.

We are now paying right at or just under 16 percent total by the time ebay adds the seller fees to the sales tax and includes the 40 cent listing fee.

Abso-friggin-lutely!! It is dead wrong and should be against the law to have the tax and shipping mixed in with the final fee. I miss the days when I first started on here in 2000. I was a side hobby, now it is my sole income so each time an increase happens it takes a little more away from my profit. Sadly, I've tried other venues to no avail and this site is still the one where I have most success. However, it is nothing like the sales ratio I had in the 2000's. I will never partake in their money grubbing schemes like having increased visability which amounts to what seems like extortion to me. My item views are paltry and sales are down so their algorithm must be burying me because I don't comply. Maybe one day, I will win something in the lottery and I can say screw all of this but I doubt it. Life ain't what it used to be and it f-in sucks in 2025.

I feel your pain as this is one of my categories after music. It's that feebay time of the year 😞
02-14-2025 06:30 PM
I hear you on all that, ebay fees and usps ground advantage (and other) increases has been a double whammy. You are right on the money with multiple item orders, for me that was the good ol' days.

That is what it is, sadly, and with each year everything gets worse for making a living on here like I used to. They can talk the talk about all the things they have done but nothing comes around to helping me and most of the good folks selling on here.

Because buyers are oblivious to the costs. “Would you take $10?”
some don’t even say that much…
”10?”
like NO, **bleep** of my store, blocked. I will not waste my time with cheap @$$3$.
this is what I put in my listings (hopefully buyers actually read & understand it and actually care, doubt it though):
“
SELLING IS NOT CHEAP FOR US. Sellers like me are charged 13.25% of the final total including taxes and on shipping costs. That fee is accessed against the “sale price” before taxes and shipping.
i.e. sell item for $80, shipping is $20, tax is 5%, total amount would be $105. 13.25% against $105 is $13.91. So… eBay takes the $5 automatically for taxes, I have to spend $20 for shipping and the $14 fee is assessed against the $80 = $66 - original investment, other fees, time & materials, overhead costs, etc…. So if my original investment was say $40, I’m only making at best $26 before the other deductions. eBay store fee, eBay promoted listing fee, etc.”
now the fee is higher and our listings still get minimal views because of incomplete item specifics , and beat out by mass china sellers selling plasticjunk for pennies and im sure they’re promoting their items by 7-10%.
the battle of who can afford the highest promotion fee.
I could promote my listing 10% and still get 0 views for an item reasonably priced based on sold for listings. Buried in the abyss because I’m a small seller.
i really don’t see how sellers are able to pay their storage rent, insurance, payroll, utilities, etc etc etc with the increase in costs. And buyers be like “10 with free ship?”
gotta love the poor me sap stories too..
”my dad left us when I was 5, my mom has cancer, I have 4 kids, my boyfriend left me, I was fired from my job because I was too lazy, my brothers live in another country”….etc etc etc. “I had a flat tire…..”. “Oh Jake”
same ol story:
”we’re adjusting seller fees to help make improvements to the seller’s experience.”
sure buddy, the ceo is going to be let go just like Bobby from Blizzard entertainment. Time to resign and let a competent team in.
We shouldn’t have to pay for your new yacht.
and yes it does happen…. Our boat slip went up to $4,000 May-September from $3,300. The owner of the docks recently got a new house in Florida…..hm….
adding tax to preowned items was the worse thing that ever could’ve happened.
we need a modern real life Robin Hood.

Well. I was thinking of selling on eBay agin but, after reading about MORE increases and MORE screwing of the seller, COUNT ME OUT, NO WAY! Just a bunch of greed and millennials that can't leave a **bleep** thing alone, the site has SO MANY BUGS.! Now it's just a site that'll take advantage and screw you over at any given opportunity.

I agree. Ebay should not be allowed to do this. I'm very disappointed and I expect sellers to try moving to another less taxed platform as I am doing. Very sad indeed

How about stopping these fees from being applied to shipping labels? You see what everyone pays in shipping. I'm tired of giving eBay a 'taste' from the incompetence of the USPS. What are we, the mafia?
03-18-2025 08:20 AM
I forgot about having to pay these fees on top of the taxes (and shipping). I'd hate to inquire about international....
AND I don't like having to pay a 2% promotional rate or else my listings get lost in all the hubris of the website.
Why don't we all just list everything in the lowest priced category and just be done and let eBay figure out their greed. Everyone searches on names not go through the hierarchy of goods. Sometimes I don't even understand the hierarchy myself.
