Why is UPC field required for listings but not available on the app?

A required UPC field is already annoying enough as it is when I'm listing on my laptop, but when I try to use the app it doesnt even give you the option to select "Does Not Apply", meaning I have to save it as a draft and finish it on my laptop. This makes the the app near worthless for selling. Is there a way around this I'm not seeing?
