What is this tool called?

It looks like a putty knife, but it seems to be made for something else - it's beveled edge, and blade is too sharp.

The thing that bothers me is the hole. It has to serve some purpose other than hanging for it to be that big.

It could be handmade and the handle fashioned from, say, a kitchen tool that already had a hole in it.

Your picture really isn't too good to help out, and knowing the size/dimensions of the tool would help along with any identifying marks.  Given the wood handle, big hole in the wood, and the loop, it's probably decorative, which means it's a kitchen tool.   A spatula for something harder like ice cream, for shaping icing on cake, or for scraping out griddles and the like.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was part of a set, too.

Of course, it could probably function as a drywall scraper too.   Both tools look similar.  Just hard to tell without more information.

When I saw the handle, kitchen immediately came to mind.  I assume it is the size of a small putty knife, but more rigid like a chisel scraper. That hole in the handle is a very weak point, and not something that would take a hammer tap, so hand pressure only, so not a true chisel.

I like the ice cream slicer, LOL.  Could just be a griddle scraper, or something along those lines, if it's not too small.  Dimensions would help.

Grill scraper or ice cream scraper. The beveled edge is a match, and as mentioned, kitchen tools often have designer handles. If you google them, this picture comes up with both names.
