Variations tool - Help!

I've been selling on ebay for years, and now I want to try the variation listing. I understand that this only works for fixed price, but where is the options for putting in color, etc? I've looked in seller hub, quick listing, advanced listing and I am not seeing it. I go down and choose fixed price and that doesn't bring anything up. All the help subjects say 'start your listing'... 'choose your variations'... But WHERE are the drop downs to put them in!? So far all I have managed to do is show I have 10 of something.

Am I totally going crazy here?

The Variations format isn't available in all categories. If you use the Advanced listing form and set up a fixed price listing in a category where it's available, you'lll see the format option to click on to get started.

That's strange because there was another listing just like what I wanted to do, and it wouldn't let me. Oh well, thanks for the info.
