Received error message, KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR. Is this a serious problem.

I recently received some error message on my computer that said something like, KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR.  The system shut itself down and when I logged back on everything seemed OK.  Does anyone know if this is a serious issue that could occur again?

I  ran a check of my hard drive and it showed there were no problems. Someone says it could be a bad sector. Do you know what the difference is?

Your computer may crash and stop working.  My suggestion would be to run the Microsoft Security Scanner first to see whether it fixes the problem.  If the problem persists, possible solutions are in the Microsoft Community Forum.
