New Views tabulation BUT still can't SORT Views Column!?!

When we had the Classic pages we could SORT the Views column and actually see the most important information for Views ... that would be listings that aren't getting any or many. With that info Sellers could make changes to try and help the item's performance in Search or decide to stop selling it.

With the advent of Seller Hub that useful tool was stripped away.

So now we will supposedly have a more accurate bit of information with Views but still NO WAY TO SORT THAT COLUMN.  So what are we supposed to do, go down through our list of hundreds or thousands of listings in search of low performers?  What a time waster ...

I see that we can now click the View count and see the last 30 day history of views ... anyone who knows what the value of this information is please share that here ... as mentioned above I want to sort that column to see what items have low to no Views ...

I question how accurate views are. I've had the new views for several weeks. I was checking out some listings I put up last week. They had a certain number of views, then I refreshed the page a few hours later and the numbers went down right in front of my eyes. The listings were less than 30 days old, so the decrease was not due to older views aging off the 30 day time frame.

Long ago we used to be able to sort by the views column on the active listings page. I don't know when that changed.

In the meantime, there is a way to sort by views, but it requires downloading a report that you can open in Excel. Downloading a report, formatting and sorting the data is not convenient when you're looking for a quick high-level glance at things, but it still takes way less time than viewing page after page of listings. The report also includes impressions data. If you're checking views once/week and not daily then the report isn't a bad option. I know a lot of sellers like to measure day-by-day so the report would not be as convenient for them.

From the performance>traffic page in seller hub you can "download active listings traffic report" - it will generate a CSV that has the following columns:

  • Listing title
  • eBay item ID
  • Current promoted listings status
  • Quantity available
  • Total impressions on eBay site
  • Top 20 search slot impressions from promoted listings
  • % change in top 20 search slot impressions from promoted listings
  • Top 20 search slot organic impressions
  • % change in top 20 search slot impressions
  • Rest of search slot impressions
  • Non-search promoted listings impressions
  • % Change in non-search promoted listings impressions
  • Non-search organic impressions
  • % Change in non-search organic impressions
  • Total promoted listings impressions (applies to eBay site only)
  • Total organic impressions on eBay site
  • Total page views Page views via promoted listings impressions on eBay site
  • Page views via promoted listings
  • Impressions from outside eBay (search engines, affilliates)
  • Page views via organic impressions on eBay site
  • Page views from organic impressions outside eBay (Includes page views from search engines)
  • Click-through rate = Page views from eBay site/Total impressions
  • Quantity sold
  • Sales conversion rate = Quantity sold/Total page views

Unfortunately category is not part of that report and the only customization available before downloading is time period.

P.S. I'm sure you already know all of that Mr L. You want the convenience of a quick sort, high-level glance. I don't blame you and I don't disagree that it would be beneficial.

I put the info above out there in case there are others willing to take the longer report path - people that may not know it's available.

Re: New Views tabulation BUT still can't SORT Views Column!?!

velvet@ebay  I actually prefer the new count display, and consider it a big improvement over the old total count. The options to see various time frames, along with the default 30 day time frame, and the charts which allow me even more granularity, provide better data.

However, now that we have this better data, it is even more important that we have the ability to sort the "Views" column in Seller Hub's Active Listings by lowest to highest/highest to lowest.

So, I want to add my voice to Mr L's request: Please ask the appropriate team to add that capability to the Active Listings page.

Thanks for that @wastingtime101

-We lost the ability to Sort views with Seller Hub, that is when it happened.

-The Classic pages let us Sort Views in real time.

-Thank you for the instructions on Generating a report, sadly this is time consuming (one of the major themes of Seller Hub) AND once a Seller has the report they would still have to go back and try to find their low performers to work on them ... again, more time wasted.

-As far as the new Views tabulation being accurate, well, like many changes it may take some time for them to tweak the program so it actually works as intended

Re: New Views tabulation BUT still can't SORT Views Column!?!

I'll add in a minor ux/design gripe - in the new Listing Traffic History view, the colors used for Organic and Promoted on the charts are the opposite of what those colors represent in the charts in the Ad Dashboard.

I can see that possibly causing some confusion.

Exactly @wastingtime101  and that's why I made sure the "Thank you" was in bold for that explanation on how to generate a report ...

Re: New Views tabulation BUT still can't SORT Views Column!?!

Glad you didn't think I was dismissing your post because I do agree with your request. 😁

In addition to helping others that may not know about the report, I thought it was important to bring it up so we could call out how time consuming and cumbersome that avenue can be because that supports your request for a column sort on the active listings page.

Seller Hub has improved a lot the past few years in terms of efficiency. The ability to change quantity/price from the active listings page was huge. It's a major time-saver for me.

They added quick filters and made a few other time-saving changes. Hopefully the team will see your request in that light.

Re: New Views tabulation BUT still can't SORT Views Column!?!

Hello all! I just wanted to let you know that they came back to me saying they're aware of the request to sort the Seller Hub Active Listings page by Views, and it’s something they may be able to provide in the future. For now though, they're advising sellers to go to My eBay Active (www.ebay.com/ms/active) and sort by ‘Most views’ there.

-----

Edit: Looks like the link was missing a letter, thanks for the heads up @mr_lincoln It should be www.ebay.com/mys/active as @shipscript noted.

There's not an easy way to get to that page from the Seller Hub, so they have suggested bookmarking it. There is also not a way to see 'Most views' from the Seller Hub Active Listings page as that feature isn't available. I'll include a screen shot of what should be seen when using the above link though:

velvetebay_1-1652823834410.png

One side note they wanted me to make, is that this link may not work as intended for sellers with a lot of listings. The basic My eBay Active page is not intended for larger sellers.

Hi velvet@ebay

Unfortunately, the link you provide goes nowhere (1st pic) and ALL the pull downs on the Active list (2nd pic) have NO choice for a sort for "Most views" ... whoever gave you that info and link please ask them to kindly provide a step by step process to obtain their suggested "Most views" list ... and so that you know, the one slider bar in the one pull down menu in the 2nd pic just exposes "Add volume pricing" ... sorry to be skeptical but I suspect it does not exist or is so buried nobody has posted saying, "HEY, here's where we can sort Active listings by "Most views"!!!'"

And so that you know, the request to give us back the ability to sort the Active list by Views (ascending or descending) was made years ago after Seller Hub came out so this is NOT a new request ...

Re: New Views tabulation BUT still can't SORT Views Column!?!

Try this link for the sort method

https://www.ebay.com/mys/active

The drop down list for sort order works, but it's linear format instead of the easy to scan grid format.

@shipscript   Thank you ...  that's in the My eBay section if memory serves.

It will be nice if and when they add Sorting to the Seller Hub Active list ...

velvet@ebay  Thank you for pointing that out, I was going to comment earlier on this and include the pics below but I didn't want to sound like a I did not appreciate part of a Solution that you and @shipscript  presented ... the page format in the My Selling link includes enough info that I can only see 3 items per page (1st pic) where as the Active List in Seller Hub is 7-8 (based on the size % I most often use - 2nd pic).
