Is eBay now charging a fee to 'revise' a listing?

I updated my listings 'return policy' in one store(as requested by eBay), and was charged .90, and updated another store's 'return policy'(as requested), and was charged $2.50, and updated one listing with a new price, and was charged .30.

Has eBay's fees changed to include charging for 'revise your listing'? If not, how can I fix this?

Thanks!

Revisions that do not upgrade the listing should not generate a new charge. Check your account to see if the charges actually went through. Some have reported the charge was erroneously shown during revision but that the charge was not applied.

Which listing tool did you use on each upgrade session?

Are all items in stores, so store pricing?

Do you recall what number of listings were updated for each?  Was every updated listing a 30 cent fee (the $2.50 charge is not divisible by 30, so some other rate)?

The only 30 cent fee I can find is listing designer...

I had it happen last month, I revised just the price on 3 items, ebay charged me .25 to one of them.  After waiting 2 hrs for them to call me back, tried to tell me I relisted it, uh then why does the listing have 6 days to go before it ends and there wasn't a new listing.  Worse of it is, I wasted 30 minutes on the phone for a quarter and the rep couldn't do anything because I'm on MP and they would have to call me, never called.

I wonder how many this new policy will deter.

@veronicabooksandart

It's not a new policy. It looks like some sort of tool error. We need to track down the circumstances and the specific tool.

Perhaps you could diagnose this one over eBay-FedEx shipping.

Shipped on 11/2/20. FedEx fixed it from "their end" in a 5 minute call.

Getting eBay to credit my account or even follow up on the dispute is beyond my power.

I suspect a "tool error" in my case as well.

"Try to imagine a box that size weighing 54 pounds..."

I'm imagining a box with a couple of gold bricks at 27# each, LOL. Of course, cardboard would be a poor packaging option with that sort of weight.

@veronicabooksandart

What did Fedex tell you?

In the past, we have seen errors where spot checks on packages at the Fedex facility resulted in a Fedex human error involving a decimal point or typo. I think the new Fedex system is more automated, like the postal system, where boxes fly down the conveyor and infrared devices determine the dimensions as the boxes whiz past.

In your example, the dimensions seem to have held fairly well, so dimensional weight (the most common issue) did not come into play; but the weight was not correctly applied at some point.

FedEx should have been able to tell you if an audit changed your weight. If so, it's a FedEx issue and they should send a revision to eBay. If an audit did not change your weight (or if it was never checked by the FedEx system), then it's possible eBay glitched the number during or after you entered it.

One of the most difficult problems for shippers using eBay's Fedex account has been dealing with after-the-fact Fedex shipping adjustments because all billing claims must pass through eBay. I presume eBays new UPS account will be similarly fraught with issues.  With the current customer service levels, I don't really know where to point you for Fedex shipping. I think it should be the billing department, but if you aren't getting any satisfaction there due to lack of training in that area, you may need to take your question to staff on social media.  Be sure to provide adequate examples, such as you have provided and as I have further asked.

Interesting. The FedEx CS rep couldn't explain why eBay's data was so at odds with all their internal information. He seemed genuinely perplexed at first which moved to consternation. Of course, I had so many questions. He was very concerned about what information he was allowed to give me under the eBay-FedEx agreement. He fixed the error and said "eBay can now see the correction". He was allowed to give me the corrected weight and the new retail shipping charge of $11.48. That's it. That took 5 minutes. My time spent with eBay, then Paypal, now again eBay has been many hours. My choices at this juncture seem to be small claims or arbitration.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My analysis of this issue, on these boards going back a decade, implicates eBay and not FedEx. eBay does this routinely for motives I don't care to speculate on beyond because they can do it with impunity by virtue of the eBay-FedEx relationship.

Sorry for the delay, got busy with 'life'.

In my PopCultureHeaven.com II store, on 1/9/21, I was charged .30X3(.90) for changing 3 current listings to 30 day returns(as requested by eBay).

The other store(PopCultureHeaven.com) that charged me fees for 'revise your item', under 'Payments' in Seller Hub, now says "You've successfully registered for managed payments
We will notify you of your account activation date two weeks in advance, and again two business days beforehand."

I did the switch to 'Managed Payments' for all my 3 stores at the same time, I don't know why this one is taking so long to switch over.

I have 'revised' a few more listings, since the ones in my original post, they had .00 charge. So, maybe it was a 'glitch', and has been fixed?
