For the last 5 months, Ebay App on my Iphone 11pro, has been giving me no option to scan products with my Camera.
I've tried everything from uninstall/reinstall, Security, App Ebay Accessibility, Camera permissions, you name it.
Then I found out through my calls to ebay that its an issue with Tech and they're working on it, or might ditch this option for good. Not good enough and not the answer I want to hear.
Just to put this in perspective. When I was in an thrift store the other day, I found a plate that I thought might be collectible. It was selling for $30.00, still I wasn't sure. Usually I could take a pic with the Ebay app and it would come up with like-and-kind listings. Now, the only option is to describe it in words, or scan a barcode.
As we all know, antiques and objects without boxes don't have barcodes. And it was only when I got home that I finally typed in all the details that it came up as a $495.00 collectible plate. Naturally it was gone when I returned.
The bottom line is, not only did I miss the opportunity to sell this, Ebay missed the commission it would have made off my sale.
This has happened so often that I've told Ebay, its time to find a new tech department. The option to use the camera is fundamental to Selling.

Apparently eBay temporarily removed the image search option from the app due to a problem with the feature:
There are other possible ways to identify an item from an image -- many search engines have such a feature, or there are apps like Google Lens.
Using one of those, you may be able to identify an item and find a name you can then use to search eBay. Obviously that is not as convenient and requires some extra steps. But it might save you from otherwise missing out on a good deal.
