I would like to know how I can remove ebays non functioning shopping cart from my ebay store so it reverts back to the way it use work when combining items for buyers...let me explain.
What the shopping cart does NOT do and many sellers are totally unaware of this happening, which causes lost sales and the chance to develop good customer relations and the potential repeat customer.
When a buyer want to purchase more than 1 item from a sellers ebay store.
Ebay forces them to use the shopping cart. In ebays eyes they will not admit it has some serious issues.
Here is a common scenario:
1.A buyer who has money in hand and ready to purchase begins choosing the items he wishes to buy and ebay forces them to use the cart and once finished is SUPPOSED to use the request a total from the seller.
Many times there is no button or instruction to guide the buyer on how to properly do so. If the button is present ebay forces them to commit to the items in the cart...this is the first problem, as many buyers will NOT commit to something that they have no idea what it will end up costing them(I would not either). So how does a buyer get a combined shipping total? The answer is he cannot unless he commits. Now it gets even more challenging for both the buyer and seller, why? Because ebay does not permit the seller to see the items from his ebay store in the buyers cart when the buyer is ready to purchase! The buyer, as common sense would dictate, ASSUMES that the seller can see the items and combine the items and send him an invoice so he can pay and the seller can ship..NOPE in fact ebay does not even send the seller a notice that a buyer has a shopping cart with items in it, so the seller is totally oblivious that there is a buyer ready to spend money and purchase items, while the buyer patiently waits forever not knowing that the only person who can see or knows he has a cart is the buyer himself! Eventually he does one of two things, he get upset set not getting any response for the seller and most likely angered thinking the seller is ignoring him(again the buyer does not know the seller has no clue since ebay does not let the buyer know) and the seller loses a sale and the potential repeat customer, who since he wants to buy items will go somewhere else like Etsy or Amazon who does not have this issue. OR the buyer will send an email wanting to know how to get a combined shipping invoice....and since the seller has no idea nor can see what is in the cart, has no way of doing so! unless the seller tells the buyer to send him each item number and qty of all the items and then the seller can create a NEW listing as a package deal for that buyer and have him, using the new item number make the purchase. This is a huge waste of time and aggravation on both the buyer and seller. Contacting ebay is no help either because I have done so at least 50 times and rarely get the same remedy twice, the most popular one is to set up a some kind of flat rate shipping....that is impossible to do when you have a store that has almost 3K listings and range in size from 4oz. to 15-20 lbs....THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN is the seller as he know what he is selling and what it weight and can give the customer the BEST money saving discount, NOT ebay.
How it worked BEFORE the shopping cart came to be was straight forward and simple for both the buyer and seller, was the buyer chose each item he wished to purchase, and as long as he did not PAY for any of them each item would show up on my sold chart, where I would simply click on any of the items and hit the send invoice button and it would populate all the items the buyer wanted, where the seller could accurately do a combined shipping invoice as well as being able to in some cases send 2 invoices due to being able to safely package the items(you would not want to try to ship a muffler with and fragile glass item)...this method worked fine and had no issues, was straight forward and simple for both buyer and seller. So this is the reason I wish to remove the non functioning sales losing shopping cart from my store. This is not a case of this issue showing up once in awhile, and shows up very often where the buyers begin sending messages. Again as I said earlier sellers have no idea that they are losing sales because they do not even know a buyer is waiting as ebay does not tell the seller, so while you, the seller may think the carts system works just fine, it does NOT and you do not even know. A simple analogy is this...you go shopping at the grocery store and fill your cart with items and when you go to check out, ebay jumps in the middle and will not let the cashier see what is in your cart and is unable to complete the sale, and the customer leaves the buggy setting and walks out of the store to never return again and goes to a store where he can purchase the items he wants.
