I tried to change my account over to my spouse. I was able to change name and birthday. SSN is blocked out. I'm disabled and he is taking over my account. Ebay is telling me it is not possible. I dont want to have to relist and lose our top rated seller status.

If you normally file joint tax returns, it doesn't matter which SSN is on your ebay account. If not filing jointly, then you will have to create a new account,

Another option is to just keep it with you as the account owner if you file jointly, and then add your spouse as an authorized user. That way he can call in and make actions on the account like an account owner. You would just need to contact Customer Support to have him added.

Have the same issue. Need to replace my ssn and it says "Something went wrong." Talked to CS and they said it will work after 24 hours but it never did. Literally cannot update it and its very frustrating. Any solutions?

See above. This was answered.
eBay accounts have never been transferable.
You cannot switch ss numbers on an account. You may think that is reasonable, but it is not. Want the account to be under a different name? No can do.

Hello,
If I add my son as an authorized user can he change the account to his SSN? He just turned 18 and needs to change to his SSN.

I use an EIN for my eBay business, NOT my social security number and it's been a nightmare getting this 1099-K in the wrong number. Is there a way to list an eBay account under and EIN instead of a SSN if a SSN was previously attached??

@cptcoo_90, did you register your eBay business account as a sole proprietor, or a single-member LLC?
An LLC with one member/owner can file taxes either way, but I think it might make a difference to which TIN is used. FYI you don't need an LLC to file business taxes as a sole proprietor.
This info from the IRS might be useful (but doesn't directly answer the question):

eBay has apparently had difficulty accepting an EIN for single-member LLCs.
You may still need to go to battle with eBay over that aspect.
Did you bank account carry an EIN or SSN? eBay and the bank must match.
I recommend that you contact eBay on social media to see where eBay stands on this (fixing it or not).

However, as if you were a consignment seller, I would think you could, on your personal return, do a 100% pass-through to your LLC (under the advice of your accountant). For instance, on form 1040 (Schedule C, E, or F) , or whatever your accountant advises, enter the amount from the eBay 1099 and then deduct that amount as a transfer to your LLC (if the LLC is filing a separate return). Then on your LLC return, do the full bookkeeping thing.
Be sure to make a formal arrangement between yourself and your LLC for this to happen (ie, selling on eBay on behalf of the LLC).
Last century, I did a similar sale on behalf of another party. I had a signed agreement with the other party that spelled out what was given to me to sell, how much I would keep and how much I would transfer. The IRS audited and accepted that agreement, and made a note to look at the return of the other party (which of course did claim the income) so all was well. I realize this example is ancient history, but it might provide a simple example when working with your accountant to get over this current hump.
At least until eBay straightens out the single-member LLC issue.
