A few days ago, I noticed that in my two newer stores(non-legacy), that the pictures of my items on my store home page, have their tops and bottoms cut off(they used to be displayed full-size). When I click on the pictures, then the full-size picture is displayed. In my older legacy store, the pictures are displayed full-size.
Is this a new eBay policy, or did I essentially make a setting change somewhere?

I have this same problem in my store, which is many years old.
I carefully edit my first picture, which is always a close up, to show my doll or item to the best advantage, and now eBay is CUTTING OFF parts of images, so the doll's heads are cut off, or part of an outfit, etc.
IT IS AWFUL and needs to go back to the way it was. I know how to edit my OWN PHOTOS eBay; I pay LOTS of money for my store each month and it now looks AWFUL.
Please fix as soon as possible.

LOL! eBay auto-corrected 'accidentally ' to 'essentially'.

It's so annoying; I have always taken pride in how close-up and beautifully presented my Gallery photos are in my store, and now my store looks like garbage!
Almost 200 items; stupid "make work" to edit them and yet I feel like I have no choice; dolls are rectangles, NOT SQUARES.
And, if eBay was going to make such a stupid change, they don't have AI which would make them NOT cut off the heads on the dolls?
I've been very successfully selling my dolls for years; I don't need or want this "enhancement" from eBay, and neither do my customers, OR the people I buy from; lots of cut-off doll heads in their stores too!

Both my stores that sell postcards have this problem with the postcards with vertical views. Postcards with horizontal views display correctly. All the postcards display correctly if they are viewed outside of my stores. Also if I click on one of the listings that has the top and bottom cut off so that the image is square, it takes me to the item description where the postcard is displayed correctly. I hope this is an error that will be fixed. It is a recent change that I only discovered when I saw this discussion.

Hmmm....I guess an eBay rep is not going to respond to this? So, we are stuck with the 'centered-square' pictures, which cut off the tops and bottoms?

It would seem so. May as well not bother editing any more to "fill the shot".

Thanks John!
The sooner they can fix this the better; as I'm listing new items, am I supposed to edit the photos the way I always have, or do I have to cut off my vertical items awkwardly to have them fit the "edit" I'm currently getting? I don't want to list too many new items till I know one way or the other.

YAY! My photos are fixed (back to the way they were) and my eBay Store looks great; no heads cut off the dolls anymore!
Thank you for raising the issue with the technicians; I appreciate it!

No problem, I'm glad to hear they're working normally again!

Hello friends
I'm dealing with the same issue..squares instead of rectangles. Its currently 2023. This feed seems to be from 2021. I wasn't having this problem about a week ago. Is this a glitch or did I change a setting in ignorance? Can ebay change this back if I make a formal complaint? Thanks ~

This thread is about an issue that has come and gone.
However, eBay is now toying with the way pages are displayed, so perhaps the same issue is back on the table. In one test last month, eBay showed cropped thumbnails in listings, and we voted that down, so that test went away.
What are you seeing, and where? Can you post a screenshot? Is there a "tell us what you think" or "comments" or "feedback" option on the page where you are seeing this? That is the best way to make your opinion known.
