I don't know what to do with any of these.

Warning - Seller Profiles will soon be mandatory while creating a new listing. Support for Legacy Shipping, Payment and Returns fields will be going away for business policies opted in sellers.

Error - The package weight is not valid or is missing. Provide a valid number for the weight.

Error - Please enter a valid postal code.

In most cases, warnings are advisory only and will not prevent listing the item.

@shipscript I'm getting discouraged with all these errors. My working on my csv has come to a halt because I can't figure out where to find the info to correct these latest ones.

I also don't want business policies unless that's the only way to get the eBay shipping discount rates.

Displaying eBay Carrier discount rates to buyers is an account level setting.

Policies are great for sellers who ship similar items all the time and can live with a reasonably short list of policies.  Since you have no listings, now would be a good time to set up policies. When one policy is applied to a group of listings, you can change the details within the policy without editing the listings.  Or, you can revise a listing (individually or in bulk) to switch from one policy to a different policy.

For people like me, the mandatory conversion to policies turned into a nightmare jumble of variants. If you decide not to use policies, leave the last three Profile columns empty and add all of the appropriate shipping, payment, and returns columns.

When shipping is calculated, you will need to add weight and dimension columns. Use whole numbers under these headings:

WeightMajor  (pounds)

WeightMinor  (ounces)

WeightUnit  (lb or kg)

PackageLength  (inches)
PackageWidth  (inches)
PackageDepth  (inches)
OriginatingPostalCode  (5 or 9 digits)

Thank you.  I set up a few policies.

If I didn’t have any other errors on the spreadsheet, would I be able to ignore the warning?

Q#1:

eBay Warning 21919456: Seller Profiles will soon be mandatory while creating a new listing.

Warning: eBay Warning Message 21919456: Seller Profiles will soon be mandatory while creating a new listing.

Full warning: eBay Warning Message 21919456: Seller Profiles will soon be mandatory while creating a new listing. Support for Legacy Shipping, Payment and Returns fields will be going away for business policies opted in sellers.

Reason: This warning is coming directly from eBay, not whatever platform you are creating the listing in. When you are opted into Business Polices but do not use them (i.e. you select information on the "Use Terms" tab instead of the Business Policies tab) eBay will return this warning.

Resolution: Select a profile for payment, shipping and returns on the Business Polices tab.

Warnings do not stop an item from launching, so you may ignore this warning.

NOTE:  You may go to eBay and opt out of Business Policies if you would like. The business policies workspace may be found here.  Participation in the Business Policies program is optional, but for sellers who are opted in, eBay is going to make using business policies mandatory in the near future. For now, we allow listing via the "Terms" tab as well as via "Use Business Policies" until eBay no longer allows it. If you're listing at eBay directly, if you're opted into Business Policies, you have no choice but to list with policies at this time.

Q#2:

Error - The package weight is not valid or is missing. Provide a valid number for the weight.

This one is easy, just find the section to add your items shipping weight & Length, Width and Height.

For example: "Shipping Weight: 1.5 pounds". If you are imputing the information in eBay directly, you don't have to fill out all the information, just the Pounds/Oz  , if it askes to put the dimensions of the package in you will need to put that too. Sometimes it asks for it and sometimes not.

Q#3:

Error - Please enter a valid postal code.

To fix this error, save your draft of a listing and exit the editor.  Once you return to the editor, in the last section, "Item location," the city, state, and country you entered will no longer be in text fields, they will be printed with a "Change" option next to them.  Click this option, and this time the "ZIP Code" field should be visible.  Enter your ZIP code here and submit the listing; it should work.
