File Exchange Listing Without Prefilled Information

In Australian we can no longer upload using Turbo Lister so I am now using File Exchange.
Action(SiteID=Australia|Country=AU|Currency=AUD|Version=941)

Despite setting IncludePrefilledItemInformation =0 I am still getting Prefilled information added to my listings.

As I provide detailed descriptions together with Item Specifics and I find the Prefilled information is often wrong I do not want the "About This Product" added to my items.

Do I need to include other settings or is it impossible to NOT Include this information.

Please note I am in Australia and selling on the Australian Site.

File Exchange Listing Without Prefilled Information

@fred_foofighter

Are you using the Product identifiers report from FileExchange? Or are you including Product identifiers in your upload template file?

I do not believe that the Product catalog is required for the categories you are listing in. They probably will be at some time, in the future.

Some recent history...eBay has made a large investment in the Product catalog, so this is not going away. However, because of the issues that the catalog seems to have, the biggest issue is what you are seeing in the 'prefilled information'. Also noted are issues with 'New', 'New old stock' (where the item may have been updated), and 'Used' items.

eBay has recently (seemingly) backed off of insisting on the use of the catalog, in favor of prompting members to use more complete item specifics.

This is obvious. The product submission process includes item specifics. When vetted and approved by eBay, products are included in the catalog. With literally millions of differing products, eBay can not vet and approved each one carefully (except for the first submissions to the catalog).

Catalog submission process may not be getting the response they had hoped for. So, my bet, is that they will be creating catalog entries from successful item listings that have more/complete item specifics.

So, for your case. do not use the Product: identifiers in your uploads, nor use the default FE download file to include product identifiers. Instead use the item specifics to include UPC/EAN info. Also include as many of the suggested item specifics that eBay needs to create new product catalog entries. This will make your item listings more searchable and probably lead to more sales (and as a side benefit, help eBay improve the product catalog).

If you need the 'Stock' images that come with the product catalog, you will have to include the Product: identifiers, so you are also going to get the 'prefilled' info.

File Exchange Listing Without Prefilled Information

Thank you for your detailed reply.

I have not been using the product identifiers only the UPC/ EAN.

The results are a bit inconsistent some times the "About This Product" info is included and other times it isn't.  As the DVDs are all Australian EAN codes I am not sure if this is due to just no info available or if the IncludePrefilledItemInformation =0 is working correctly.
