Error 240
I’m getting the error 240, "The item cannot be listed or modified. The title and/or description may contain improper words, or the listing or seller may be in violation of eBay policy"
I’ve been looking for possible causes online but looks like there’s nothing wrong:
It’s a powerseller account with 100 feedbacks
I don’t have any improper terms in the listing
I can still list more than 800 items and 70k dollars
Please see the attached file exchange spreadsheet snapshot and give me some advice.
Thanks!

Note that I can not see into your eBay execution upload file. Only an eBay associate can. So linefeeds are not visible for me. Linefeeds in the description or in the headings will cause errors.
Make sure you save the file as a 'MS-DOS comma seperated values' file.
Your shipping options are not valid. You list the item as coming from Hong Kong (should be Hong Kong, China), but you are using a domestic shipping option. You need to change the ShippingService-1:Option to StandardShippingFromOutsideUS.
Your image file names have embedded spaces. Replace each space with '%20' (no tics).
Try those changes and re-upload.

Hi Dollybeauty,
Thank you so much for your help!
I modified the spreadsheet and re-uploaded but the error 240 still occurs : (((
Make sure you save the file as a 'MS-DOS comma seperated values' file.
- I saved in Excel as “CSV” format, is it correct? How can I save it as MS-DOS CSV?
- I don’t think it is file format or seller account’s problem, as I’ve tried to upload for more than 10 times in recent days, file exchange systems returned different error code for the first couple of times about other specific mistakes, it returned Error 240 after I fixed all other problem.
Your shipping options are not valid. You list the item as coming from Hong Kong (should be Hong Kong, China), but you are using a domestic shipping option. You need to change the ShippingService-1Smiley Surprisedption to StandardShippingFromOutsideUS.
- I have updated the these 2 columns
Your image file names have embedded spaces. Replace each space with '%20' (no tics).
- They are actually underscore “_” instead of spaces

Sorry, the underscores did not show well in the pdf.
Try this...Change your Action statement to Action(SiteID=US|Country=HK|Currency=USD)
The HK is for Hong Kong.
Some members use a MAC and the CSV would end up with the wrong line endings for FileExchange.

BTW, you can also leave the Country option out of the Action statement, and instead, place a column, named Country, in the spreadsheet. The data in this column would be the country codes listed on page 64-66 of the advanced instructions for FileExchange.
By doing it that way, you can use the same upload file to create products that come from different countries. US and HK, for instances.

Hey Dollybeauty,
No problem! It was because the attachment system only accepts PDF JPG not the Excel files, I had to take the screenshot of spreadsheet.
I changed this part (Country=US -> HK) in the Action statement, and it works!! Two listings are active now. I also tried to keep this part the same and tested U.S. domestic shipping options, the upload file also went through.
Thank you so much for you help! As a newbie I’m so glad that I can get help from this forum!
