Re: Export CSV file

The steps you are quoting would be basically correct for members who are opted into the SellerHub.

Are you using the SellerHub? Or My eBay?

Re: Export CSV file

My guess is that your browser is blocking the unsecure content.

I tried this export in three browsers, FireFox, Chrome, and Opera.

FireFox - The export box just sits there, whether you choose csv file or pdf.

Chrome - The export box disappears, whether you choose csv file or pdf.

Opera - the Tool bar has a message that tells you the content is blocked and gives you the option to unblock. The other browsers may do the same in other ways, but Opera was the only browser to report the blocked content.

Re: Export CSV file

I performed some further tests to see if I could get around the block in Firefox, and I can't.

A seller should be able to download a CSV file whether in Seller Hub or with Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro by going to the Active Listings view.  Either checkmark the desired listings or use the dropdown option to edit all.

sellerhub_bulk_export_select.gif

That will process  and open the selected listings in eBay's bulk editing tool.  But from there, the seller still needs to select (checkmark) all the listings of interest, below.

Then, from the Action dropdown, select "Export to File".

sellerhub_bulk_export_action.gif

A popover will ask what type of file to create, and the CSV format can be selected here.

sellerhub_bulk_export_csv_alert.gif

However, that then invokes a warning in Firefox, above, that the connection is insecure. The "Continue" button closes the alert box, but unfortunately has no other effect. The download is blocked.

Theoretically, we should be able to overcome this situation in Firefox by making the selections shown below (disable protection for now), which should then allow the non-secure content to load. Frequently, choosing this option will force the page to reload so that the non-secure content can be displayed unblocked.  However, in this case, we end up going in a circle with no resolution and no download.

@dollybeauty

Can you get around this block by granting permission in any of the other browsers you have tried?  The "unblock" should be on the address bar of the browser in all cases. On one of the browsers, the shield over on the right.

Of course, if all else fails, a report can be downloaded through File Exchange. I believe the data is similar.  Do you know how similar?

Has this page failure been reported to eBay techs or posted on the tech forum? It seems it may have been ongoing for some time now.  @mypaymentstest

Re: Export CSV file

For reference, @berserkerplanet has posted a hard-coded change to Firefox as a temporary working in this post (not for the faint-hearted):

Re: Export CSV file

I wouldn't call it hardcoded (as in a "had to hex edit the FireFox executable" type fix).

Simply a temporary* change to the browser settings through it's configuration editor (about:config) interface not available through the tools menu options interface that allows the user to get the export file

(*temporary as long as user pays attention and changes it back - it does not automatically revert which you could say does make it hardcoded and potentially a risk for those not being careful.)

Steps to perform the export task:
- set up the export normally to the point just before hitting the "Export" button
- click the saved bookmarklet on Firefox browser bookmarks toolbar (or in bookmarks) in a new blank tab to bring up the about:config interface focused down to that single setting
- double click the "security.mixed_content.block_active_content" setting which toggles it from true to false
- switch back to BEAR editor export tab and click the export button and get the export file
- switch again to the about:config tab, double click to toggle the setting back to TRUE, close the tab
- done.

All is as it was before, except the export file is obtained.

Re: Export CSV file

I can not find a method other than @berserkerplanet 's solution. Of course, this is just too much for most all members. Especially when an 'Examine' of the html behind the button clearly shows that eBay has missed an http: . eBay is evoking the BEAR editor to download, by are referencing http: instead of https:.

So the cure for this issue is a very minor change to the underlying html. Let's see what @mypaymentstest can add to this. If there is no response, I will post to the SellerHub board, and hope that team is monitoring the threads there.

Re: Export CSV file

This is the export file produced by SellerHub (downloaded via Opera)...

shexport.PNG

And this is the Standard FileExchange export file...

feexport.PNG

The two contain basically the same item info, but the FileExchange export additionally has Product info, Variation (Relationship) info and OutOfStockControl.

The SellerHub export has store cat info and policies info, that I could wish the FE export contained.

Also, the FE export contains all item records, instead of just 200 as in the SellerHub export.

Re: Export CSV file

@shopon-products

If you would like to check out the FileExchange utility. You can subscribe (free) on this link - http://bulksell.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?FileExchangeSubscribe&guest=1

This board is the best place to go for help, if you need it.

You do not need to learn all about FileExchange to create an export file. After you subscribe to FE,

your SellerHub or MyeBay Summary pages, will have a FileExchange link. Click on that, then click on Download files on the next page.

Again, repost if you need further info.

@dollybeauty - Thank you for mentioning me on this post. We are aware of the difficulties in accessing the "Exported" files on certain browsers.

We're looking into better this process for all browsers. As of right now, I'm limited in the details of what steps we are taking to better this process through the "Bulk Editing and Relisting" tool.

As mentioned. If you have access to File Exchange, you can download "Active" listing information that is similar to what you would get from the "Export" files through our bulk editing tool.

Thank you all (@shipscript and @berserkerplanet) for providing information to the community.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

@berserkerplanet

I was planning to add screenshots to berserkerplanet's instructions and the block appears to have been fixed.  I can download the CSV without altering my Firefox browser settings.  Does it now work for you?

I am still getting the same results as I posted above.

FireFox 58.0.2 (latest)

Chrome 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Opera (not sure)

Re: Export CSV file

@dollybeauty

Thanks for testing. I've closed my browser and restarted and now I get the block again.

I can only guess that playing around with the setting earlier shown by berserkerplanet had made the difference. I had specifically checked and rechecked the config settings, and it was set back to the default block when I had tried to download, but perhaps the return to the default block did not take effect until I restarted.

I'm not sure why turning off the block would have taken effect without restarting when the reverse was not true. I'll have to test that some more. I had run the toggle test in a separate browser window and had set and reset back to default in that window, and then rechecked the setting in the current window, so having two windows open may have contributed.

I just now tried again in another tab of the same browser instance, and it worked to unblock and then reblock without restarting the browser, but here is a  difference:

When I upblock just prior to the download request, I get a browser alert warning about the download, and when I dismiss that alert, the download appears.

When I unblock before invoking BEAR, I get no browser alert. The download just smoothly appears.
