Ebay has not fixed the CSV update listings upload - still missing fields from time of File Exchange

Today I confirmed again, after more than 2 years Ebay still hasn't completed the CSV upload. There are missing fields. I can't update parts of the listing with the CSV. It was possible under the old File Exchange but not possible today. I tried to add Description field and the update just fails. It accepts the file, but then it says the update wasn't done error. When I remove the Description field, then the update works as expected.

This was first discussed here:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Seller-Tools/Any-way-to-mass-edit-descriptions-with-CSV-file/td-p/3236...

For instance the column Description is not included in the update CSV file. There is absolutely no way for me up update my listings in bulk via CSV. The only option I have is to do that manually in Bulk Editor, or to pay for a 3rd party ebay listings solution, or to pay a programmer (since I am not one myself) to write Trading API interface (should I trust somebody in Fiverr for a few 100's dollars at minimum?) or to use the Merchant Integration Platform to send the CSV/XML feed which is almost same level challenging as using the API.

https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/listings/ebay-bulk-listing-tools

So that is really disheartening.

Besides Description there are plenty other fields that are not available through CSV update. Neither possible to even update the 1st gallery image, although that 1st image is available as a field in the new item CSV.

I am paying every month about 30 USD, that is 360 USD per year for what ebay?  If ebay wouldn't charge the store subscription I would stomach it but where is merchant support from ebay? Regardless whether big or small seller, Ebay doesn't get things right and no communication or updates if this is gonna even change. If I knew EBay doesn't change that, than at least I don't keep waiting for almost 2 years now and would have already invested in my own custom app to upload the CSVs rather than paying total 500 USD for last 2 years for an outside 3rd party listing service.

Ebay has not fixed the CSV update listings upload - still missing fields from time of File Exchange

Okay, I have to take back (in part at least) my ramblings about Ebay.

Ebay did in fact update quietly the CSV import on the upload page https://www.ebay.com/sh/reports

It is now possible to update the Description field. It didn't work for me because I was also trying to update the shipping policy at the same time (my bad).

The good thing (that makes it a good day I guess) is Ebay now allows easily to update all images using the same CSV file.

The CSV file is missing the additional fields, but you can add them there. Make sure the field names match exactly as in this inventory on-boarding guide:

https://ir.ebaystatic.com/cr/v/c1/rsc/feeds/v1/guide-inventory-onboarding.pdf

This guide was actually meant for the Merchant Integration Platform uploads but seems many fields now match to the ones that can be used in the CSV upload template  https://www.ebay.com/sh/reports..

To update description add field:  Description

To update images add field: Item photo URL

The description in the on-boarding guide doesn't mention uploading multiple images, but page 15 says you can upload multiple images by adding a pipe | between the file names. There is no space between the file names. Avoid also spaces in the file names.

Pipe characters | can be used to separate the URLs : i.e. https://www.picturshosting site.com/picturefolder/picturename1.jpg|https://www.picturshosting site.com/picturefolder/picturename2.jpg

The uploaded pictures are uploaded and will be hosted on Ebay server.

What didn't work however, is updating the Shipping policy (in the PDF listed as "Shipping profile name")

Neither works. I tried putting my shipping business policy exactly as it is here https://www.bizpolicy.ebay.com/businesspolicy/manage?  and I also tried to use the business policy numbers (ProfileID), neither works.

So that seems is not available to update through the CSV.

It's possible this can be done through Ebay Trading API though.

Update:
According to this post which I discovered only later seems the picture column can also be labelled:

PicURL

Looks like EBay accepts both.

Hi @itolduandso,

You should be able to revise listings with Seller Hub Reports (File Exchange) to apply different policies. "Shipping profile name" or "ShippingProfileName" would be the correct column header. The values you enter would be case-sensitive. If you've checked to be sure that the name you entered matches exactly the name on your "Manage Business Policies" page, could you please send us the file so we could look into this. You can send it to this address:
turbodata@ebay.com
That address should just be used for questions related to Seller Hub Reports (File Exchange). And please be sure to send your email from the email address on your eBay registration.

Thank you. Do you know how to address these 2 fields?

MobileDescription

MetaDescription

They are both exposed via API.

Thanks

Hello @itolduandso,

Those are not valid fields in File Exchange (Seller Hub Reports).  If you're wanting to specify exactly what appears in the item description summary that buyers would see in the eBay app, you can find information about the HTML code you would use to do that at:

https://pages.ebay.com/sell/itemdescription/customizeyoursummary.html

Ebay has not fixed the CSV update listings upload - still missing fields from time of File Exchange

Hello

I am French and have an eBay.fr account. I have created two listings, one for France and another for the United States.

I wish to engage in dropshipping with AliExpress, utilizing products stored in France that are intended solely for French customers, and products stored in the United States reserved exclusively for American customers.

Regarding the general terms and conditions of sale, I have created the terms and conditions for France from eBay.fr.

Subsequently, I accessed ebay.com (using my French login credentials) and created the terms and conditions of sale for the United States. Have I proceeded correctly?

Is there an option to enable so that customers or visitors to eBay France cannot see or purchase my products intended solely for the American market, and vice versa?

I would like to import a product catalog in CSV format: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pNWAMbGCRtWt3WpSytmbWx_eoWBE8zW1wSQrrktApDc/edit?usp=sharing

However, when I upload the file, I encounter the following error message:

2,Add,Failure,87,Error - The selected category is not a main category.|,21917236,Warning - Funds from your sales may not be available and may appear as blocked for a certain period. Are you familiar with this type of issue, which could be related to the payment method or categories?

thanks
