I got the thing from eBay saying I need to be sure my listings are https compliant. I admit to being totally frazzled after taking a direct hit with Hurricane Irma at our home.....and am just really desperate for help in understanding how best to comply.
I don't really the basic concept of why I need secure/https content , I admit, but I ESPECIALLY need help in the nuts and bolts of how to make my listings compliant. I ran the scanner thing and out of my 463 active listings, 219 are showing non-compliant for the http/https content! I could just cry thinking of having to go through 219 listings one at a time. And that's just my ACTIVE listings, not including several hundred that are waiting to be re-listed. I have no idea how to convert those either.
Is there a workaround or a bulk-editing option or do I have to go through them all individually?
PLEASE HELP! I don't often feel this needy, but am SO HOPING someone here can help me.
Thanks! Beth 😞

@drno47 wrote:Just a quick note for those who might have used Turbo Lister to create listings and/or may have used previous listings (created in Turbo Lister) as templates for new ones. Can't speak for the latest version but my TL2 adds an image as well as an "HTTP" (not an "HTTPS") link to the end of my descriptions making them non compliant. This can be changed in each listing individually or you can correct all at once by using the bulk editing tool. In the bulk editor, select all listings, then specify "Description" and use the find and replace function. Specify "HTTP" in the find and "HTTPS" in the replace fields. This worked well for me and may also handle many other problems with non-secure HTTP links. Be careful, especially if you are not familiar with the Bulk Editor, select and try just a few listings at a time rather doing all - a lot easier to fix a mistake that way.
You will know if your listing is compliant by just viewing it within eBay. If your description is viewable on the the same page as you scroll down, it is OK. If you have to press a button to "See Entire Description" it is not. It is my understanding that eBay will not remove listings with non-compliant links - Google's Chrome browser will just display a message indicating that the listing page may not be secure and thus deter people from purchasing or bidding. Hope this helps a little!
Search for "http:" (with the 🙂 and replace with https: (with the 🙂 because if you do the search for "http" and replace with "https", if there are any existing "https" in the description HTML they will be changed to "httpss" breaking those URLs.

TL is now adding https: logo link to all NEW listing created in TL. You need to update to the latest version for this change.
All existing listings will need to beeditted.

I scanned your 285 listings and did not see a problem. Did you fix your listings?

Those five listings have the old Selling Manager Pro credit at the bottom. To fix them, open each listing for editing. Put your cursor on the last character in your text and swipe to the end of the description to highlight everything to the end. Delete, and the credit logo and link should disappear.

eBay's security letter does not threaten to remove non-secure listings.
Instead, their letter says the description will be one-click-away so that eBay's secure page and your non-secure description will be two separate pages. That way the browser will not block your description from displaying.
If your letter includes a removal warning, that could mean you have non-eBay links in your listings.
So I scanned your listings here and most do have non-eBay links.
http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentScanner.htm
Here is an easy way to fix those listings.
- Run the above scan.
- Click the EXAMINE button on each red row.
- When the new page opens, scroll down and open the "Filtered" tab.
- Copy all the code from the "Filtered" tab.
- Click the button at the bottom left of the "Filtered" tab to open your eBay listing for Revision.
- Switch to the HTML tab or HTML view on eBay's description editor and delete the code.
- Paste your copied code into the empty HTML box.
- Click back to the standard editing tab to make sure it still looks good.
- Save your listing revision and process the next red row in the scanner.

I realy do not understand what to do to get rid of this label. >>>> We found non-secure (HTTP) content in your listing. Browsers display a "Not secure" message on pages that contains HTTP resources. For a secure buyer experience, you must update your content.
Can help explain more how to fix/replace?
Ebay sent me an email with this content:
- 179 of your listings contain(s) non-secure HTTP content. Starting in October 2017, Google Chrome—the browser used by almost half of all eBay buyers— will begin displaying the message "Not Secure" in the address bar when users visit standard HTTP pages or HTTPS pages that include non-secure HTTP content. We encourage you to immediately remove this content.
Please help in correcting or changing, but preferably with more detailed explanation.

Relax. In your case, the solution to this issue is very easy. In each of your listings, there is a PayPal logo, at the bottom that is not https: compliant. This logo comes from Auctiva. Auctiva has a https: compliant logo, but you need to change your current listings to 'point' to it. If you are using an old template, that template needs to be changed also.
Auctiva may have the ability to do this for you, if you are still subscribed. Or you can easily fix this yourself.
All that is needed is to change the transmission protocol that sends the logo. Easy speak...change http: to https: in each of your listings.
Use the eBay bulk editor (BEAR) to fix the listings. With 179 listings, you can do this in ONE pass.
See this link to do this - https://community.ebay.com/t5/Tools-Apps/Fix-active-content-issues-the-easy-way/m-p/27727710#M23352
Repost if you have any questions.
Don't forget, your template needs to be changed also, so that new listings do not have this issue.

Corrected reply below. The emoticon 🙂 was inserted by the forum software when I was just trying to write : ) with no space. I was not trying to be sarcastic or funny in my reply using emoticons.

Garage Sale Preferences > Advanced (tab) > last pref at the bottom de-select include footer, or edit, and change http to https.
