I got the thing from eBay saying I need to be sure my listings are https compliant. I admit to being totally frazzled after taking a direct hit with Hurricane Irma at our home.....and am just really desperate for help in understanding how best to comply.
I don't really the basic concept of why I need secure/https content , I admit, but I ESPECIALLY need help in the nuts and bolts of how to make my listings compliant. I ran the scanner thing and out of my 463 active listings, 219 are showing non-compliant for the http/https content! I could just cry thinking of having to go through 219 listings one at a time. And that's just my ACTIVE listings, not including several hundred that are waiting to be re-listed. I have no idea how to convert those either.
Is there a workaround or a bulk-editing option or do I have to go through them all individually?
PLEASE HELP! I don't often feel this needy, but am SO HOPING someone here can help me.
Thanks! Beth 😞

I bulk scanned your listings using this tool and did not find any that required https conversion.
http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentScanner.htm
However, you do have a dozen listings containing links to non-ebay pages. I looked at one listing and the link went to Big Stock Photo. I presume those will be easy enough to remove.
There are also a bunch of listings with links that are missing the target attribute. Those can be fixed later.

Definitively going to bookmark that.
A question if I may.
The mobile friendly checker tool on the listing page , It contains a link compliant tool in it as well..Does it work just like the scanner does?
On a side note, I could never figure why out why anybody would use an <a >tag without a _blank attribute.....For basic links anyways.
Again thank you for the info.

Hudson

eBay's Description Checker tool is not yet reporting non-eBay links. The "link compliant" feature only looks for the target attribute. We hope that eBay will be updating the Description Checker to also look for non-eBay links so that it will match the results reported in the Seller Hub.

Thank you, shipscript! I went to look for this thread and didn't find it, now see it's here.
I appreciate you scanning my listings and am surprised that you found none that weren't compliant, because I'm getting 62 when I scan them.
I don't know what Big Stock photo is...can't imagine how I got a link to that! How do I remove that? Also, could you explain what the target attribute means? and when you say I can fix those later, do you mean they aren't contributing to my listing being https non-compliant?
I'm obviously not tech savvy, so anything you can do to provide me with step by step instructions is VERY MUCH appreciated.
What happens to listings that are not https compliant? Will they be pulled?

I use Garage Sale to catalog my stuff in advance. I received the same message when I was scheduleing auctions to launch. It does not look like a problem to me - but how do I know? Is Ebay sending the warning to everyone, or is it detecting an issue with my listings?

eBay is only sending the message to members with http: links in their descriptions.
Since you have no items on this account, we can not help look into your issue.
If you do not wish to publish your other account (understandable), send a PM to @shipscript or myself, with the account you wish to check. Or use Shipscript's tool (published above) to check your listings.

I looked at some of your ended listings, and it looks like the graphics and hosted photos from the Garage Sale template may be the problem. Those images are loaded using the http: protocol instead of the https: protocol. The easy fix is to find/replace all http: to https:
The Garage Sale template also includes credit links back to itself and links to open a larger image on Garage Sale (iwascoding). Those non-eBay links are no longer allowed and will show as a violation in the Seller Hub.
I presume Garage Sale has an update that eliminates those problems in new listings that you create. You may need to contact them for guidance.

I'm sorry I missed your question from last month.
I rescanned your listings and there are a 133 with non-eBay links and missing targets. The targets are missing from your store link and seller items link, and they can be addressed later, but the non-eBay links are violations.
The links go to SellerSourceBook in your older listings. These are the three versions to remove in eBay's Bulk Edit And Replace tool.
href="https://images.sellersourcebook.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=trademark"
href="https://images.sellersourcebook.com/"
href="https://www.sellersourcebook.com"
Or, if you want to look at them one by one and fix all the issues in each listing, use the Bulk Active Content Scanner to locate the problem listings and click the EXAMINE button on each red row to open the Sandbox tool. The Sandbox tool will display the corrected code in the "Filtered" tab. That corrected code can be pasted back into the listing.

Okay, for whom ever is out there - I ran the active content scanner from the link below - I only have 145 listings right now - it says 140 listings are ok - only 5 are not - (sorry to this persons posting - using it was the only way I could figure out how to get my question out there) how do I fix what is wrong? What are tags? I say something about commas between title tags - since I don't know what they are - I have no clue what to do...HELP

Thisis ridiculous.
Eventually the last time with active content they had a quick fix on each listing eventually. This time not so much just threatening to remove non-secure listings.
Do they want seller's or not?

Just a quick note for those who might have used Turbo Lister to create listings and/or may have used previous listings (created in Turbo Lister) as templates for new ones. Can't speak for the latest version but my TL2 adds an image as well as an "HTTP" (not an "HTTPS") link to the end of my descriptions making them non complant. This can be changed in each listing individually or you can correct all at once by using the bulk editing tool. In the bulk editor, select all listings, then specify "Description" and use the find and replace function. Specify "HTTP" in the find and "HTTPS" in the replace fields. This worked well for me and may also handle many other problems with non-secure HTTP links. Be careful, especially if you are not familiar with the Bulk Editor, select and try just a few listings at a time rather doing all - a lot easier to fix a mistake that way.
You will know if your listing is compliant by just viewing it within eBay. If your description is viewable on the the same page as you scroll down, it is OK. If you have to press a button to "See Entire Description" it is not. It is my understanding that eBay will not remove listings with non-compliant links - Google's Chrome browser will just display a message indicating that the listing page may not be secure and thus deter people from purchasing or bidding. Hope this helps a little!
