qr code scanned twice

A couple weeks ago I got a sale, saved the qr code to my phone, and shipped it out no problem as usual. A week later I request a refund for a different item and go to the post office to get it returned using a qr code. I make a mistake and pull out the other item's qr code but usps scans it no problem. Today after realizing this due to the return still saying no shipping (blamed it on a three-day weekend) I go to the post office and they tell me the returned item arrived to the first guy's house today. Why am I able to use the same qr code twice a week later and how should I go about this?

Re: qr code scanned twice

Contact the buyer that received it, ask them to send it back to you. Provide a prepaid label for them to use.

Once you get the package back, ship it to your seller using the provided return label.

Why is it systematically possible to use the same QR code twice? Because USPS does not build in blocks to prevent that.

Re: qr code scanned twice

I have just literally done the same thing, hence why searching this. When I spoke to eBay they didn’t really care and didn’t give me a resolution other than to contact the person I accidentally sent it to but she’s not yet posted them back.

Did the person send them back?

Re: qr code scanned twice

Just happened to me, I accidentally let the Post Office scan an old QR code and the printed the label put it on the package and the package went to California ( instead of Pa.) After 5 lost package inquiries and many calls to different postal facilities I finally told a Post Office person to do a search on a different Tracking# that had been issued 2 weeks prior. She searched and saw that something had been delivered this same customer who had bought a small item from me  4 weeks prior and that item was delivered in April. I was not able to view this info in the tracking search. The lost package was 40lbs going to PA. The misplaced and reused tracking#  was for 1 lb 4 Oz!  Don't expect any help from Ebay and I'm about to try to get funded for the postage costs which my refund to Ebay seems to include. I'm out $700.00 at the moment. If I have the guy in California ship it back it'll cost me 175.00 more!  Make sure to delete used QR codes.

Re: qr code scanned twice

Their software is poorly written.  It does not check for things like that such as allowing a package to be scanned as delivered at pickup.  It's been like that for years. There is no excuse for not correcting such bugs.
