eBay supports scammers!

eBay supports scammers and fraudster.

I sold an item on ebay, the buyer sent me a fishy picture and story about it being damaged.  I accepted the return, and got an empty envelope with an altered return label to an address that doesn't exist.

eBay CS insisted I recover the envelope from the post office.  I have pictures and videos of the item in the post office, showing the envelope was empty.

I had multiple calls with eBay CS over the next several days, constantly being assured the case was being escalated and there would be no refund issued to the seller.

Instead of what I was told multiple times, the refund was issued.  So not only was I out the product, but also the money.

eBay then changed their story and said I never escalated the case, and denied my appeal.  Nobody listened or gave a care.  I have had many emails and phone conversations with eBay CS.  They have all been with CS centers in India.  While there is not exactly a language barrier, there is certainly an accent barrier and most representatives were hard to understand at times, and I had a hard time getting things communicated to them.

The last phone call I had with (upline?) escalation was the first time I had actually been able to explain anything and be fully understood.  Another appeal was supposedly put in, but that was over a month ago.  I have had zero response from eBay.

The scammer's account is still active, with 100% positive reviews.  The system wouldn't let me post a negative review.  I am sure the scammer has moved on to a new eBay ID.

eBay has absolutely zero buyer protections.  eBay doesn't give a crap about their customers.  I have been with eBay since 1999, my wife since 2008.  Not that eBay cares, but neither of us will be using eBay in the future.  My wife has already deleted her account, and I am just waiting for this case to be finalized before I delete mine.

**bleep** eBay.

EBay has great buyer protections as you found out as your buyer has the item for free. The buyer's are the customers and eBay protects them.

Sorry to hear, as a seller, you had a run in with a problem buyer. No matter where you sell while using a mail order, online venue that charges fees to sell your wares, there is always a chance of running into buyers that steal and buyer always have the upperhand.

Is this your 1st bad transaction as a Seller? If so, not too shabby of a track record.

Yeah, I meant seller protection.  Oops.

I have not sold a ton of stuff on ebay, mostly purchases.

What **bleep** me off the most is how nonchalant eBay is about not caring.  They hadn't asked for evidence until the very end, and even then I was told to post the evidence to the message between myself and the thief.

It is a clown show.  I am out $200 and eBay looks the other way and enables people like this.

If you got the empty envelope, why was it still at the post office?

But eBay kept their word? because there was no refund issued to the seller. As promised.

Actually, you was only out the product, but you is not out the money.

The buyer @seahawkdodge sent you the money.

You sent the money back to the buyer.

So it's a wash.

Are lyrics like *Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth* worthy of 41 number one hits?

Um, no.  It's not a wash. The thief kept the product and got the refund.

And eBay facilitates all of this crime daily.

Xaxa, are you Frank W from Boston?

I apparently can't keep buyer/seller straight.  Nor can I edit.

You need a letter from your PO stating what was received and that the address was changed.

File mail fraud and a police report, then use all that to appeal the case.

Have a great day.

I did all of that.  Of course eBay said nothing about any of it, so it was done like 4 days later.  I reported the buyer, filed a mail fraud claim and filed a police report.
