eBay making me go and upload my own label

So it used to be that if someone wanted to send back a return, and you accepted it, eBay would automatically send back a return label to the buyer (because ebay already has all the information needed for it). Now it only gives me the option of

- Upload your own label (meaning I have to go to a completely different site to purchase a label, enter all the addresses and information and THEN upload it)

- Confirm you already sent a label (requires proof)

- Confirm you can't send a label (I'm afraid to find out what happens if I select this option)

So my question is, am I missing something? Or is eBay truly making it that much more time consuming to have to go to another site like usps.com or pirateship.com to enter in all the details, when eBay used to just send the label TO the customer already. Is it a setting I have wrong?

I've never experienced this either. It's been a long time since I had a Return, but I thought that with your acceptance, a label would be generated. It wouldn't be for the listing you sold that was Local Pickup, would it?

eBay does NOT automatically send a return label. Assuming that your buyer open a return request then open the request where you will have several options. One of which is to send a label to the buyer, which is already checked. But YOU have to trigger that option by clicking send. eBay automatically offers you the option but you have to act on it.

@wingocupcakes,

You said that one of the 3 options was "confirm you can't send a label" -- normally that is only possible when the package is being returned from outside the country. Maybe that's a clue.

Was the item shipped to an international location, or maybe to a freight forwarder? By any chance, was an International Fee charged on the original purchase?

Well, mine have never looked like that, but it's been a long time. Okay, let's think outside the box...

- If you tick 'Upload your own label', would it take you to the eBay label page? You can always back out...
- If you tick 'Frequently Asked Questions', do you find any help? You can always back out...

I only suggest this because sometimes I have to tick the buttons to see what's going to happen. You feelin' froggy?? 🐸

eBay making me go and upload my own label

This happened to me the other day. I haven't ever seen it before either, ebay usually always automatically sends a label to them.  I assumed the difference was because it was an an International package and I don't have free International returns on. They filed an INAD and just like you're experiencing even when I manually accepted the return I still had the same choices as you making me buy them the label. In the end I decided to refund (both item cost and delivery cost) instead of having them ship it back (The item is worth the same as the cost of shipping).

I don't know so just asking.

Is this what would happen if you used the option of  "add an RMA (return authorization number) to each return label"
