So the seller sent me the wrong item a cheaper version of what I originally purchased, I did not know what to do because they were not responding to emails at the time so I opened a eBay Money Back Guarantee case for this item or Did not receive item option. The seller finally responded said they will accept return and send me label but now when I click for the return this item button it gives me this

"You can't start a return for this item

You have already opened an eBay Money Back Guarantee case for this item."

I'm afraid to close the case because I read that once that happens you cannot return it. Why cant eBay just make a simple "Seller sent item different from description" button.

If you opened an Item Not Received case, you should be able to close it and open an Item Not As Described case.

If you opened an INR claim, you can close it. You received the item. After that's closed, open a Return request. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for replies. For anyone who has same problem in the future and stumbles on this topic.

1. Through the claims message system make sure you and seller agree to the return conditions so eBay staff can review it, if for some technical reason you cant open a return case and need to contact support. With the messages you have proof of agreement to close the case and to file a return.

2. Once conditions are establish with the seller, agree to close the case.

3. Immediately after eBay money back guarantee case is closed, you can now go back to purchase history and file for a return and select your reason.

4. You will get your return slip in PDF format. Print it, tape it to the box/envelope and drop it off at the post office.
