So I had the unfortunate experience of receiving very poorly packaged items broken!
Now the process should be easy, press "return items" and ... I get to a page with the message:
(Five weeks from now)
Seller isn't that responsive. And contacting support seems to go through a long maze that ends up in the same page in which I choose and item and get the message
It's too early to start a return

You should be able to open a return request as soon as you receive the item.
Try again using a different browser. It’s likely a glitch.
Fortunately, it’s rarely necessary to contact eBay’s CS. Filing claims involves automated processes that usually work just fine for buyers.

It seems that it took just a little longer than 24 hours for the shipping status to be updated and now I can start the process.
