Waiting for a buyer to return an item

I sold a pair of jeans a few weeks ago and the buyer initiated a return... no worries...

Ebay, on the return, says:"The buyer has until May 24 to ship the item. You can either wait for the item to arrive or issue a refund. If you issue a refund now, this return will be closed and you shouldn't expect to receive the item back.

This return has been approved automatically, per the eBay returns policy.

If the buyer doesn't send the item back by May 24, we may close the return.  "

Today is the 25th... the buyer never sent the jeans back. Tracking shows the label was created back on the 9th. It used to be I could just close this out and get my funds, but Ebay MIGHT close this out for me?  This is how frequently I get returns on my items 🙂

How can I close this out?

Don't worry about it.  Buyers often never get around to sending items back.  You would have to contact eBay to close it. Click the help and contact link at lower right of this page.

Is it worth the hassle to sell on Ebay anymore?  After 21 years, I'm done selling.  I'm not going along with this insanity.

E-bay has given our buyers 5 extra days and then closing the cases automatically.

It will close out all by itself.

If you call they will likely not close it out, and will tell you such. That was my experience a few months back. Others have posted same.

Not really a hassle, is it?

- eBay automatically accepted the return

- eBay automatically issued the return label

- eBay automatically closes the return request

- eBay automatically dinged your service metrics

Your post shows that case itself shows " The buyer has until May 24 to ship the item".

To date eBay have no way of knowing whether your buyer has sent the item back having bought a label at his post office or not as we know through tracking that label eBay offered him has not been used.

eBay will allow minimum of 3 working days( Excluding weekend) for item to reach you and a further 2 days for you to inspect and issue a refund.

As Monday is a holiday that means June 2nd is the earliest possible day to close the case and on that date  either eBay will close the case automatically or you escalate the case which will close without a refund to buyer.

Lo and behold... the buyer sent out the jeans yesterday.... May 25. A day after his 2 week deadline.  At least we will have a resolution once I get them back
