Trying to return a purchase

I bought something by mistake. I tried to cancel the order but it had already shipped.  The return was closed by the seller with a note saying to resubmit the return after the item is delivered. 

When I look at to return, it the bar shows the order is between Started and Shipped with no option to create another return.  I have contacted the seller twice but have not received any reply.

Anyone have any ideas on how to proceed?  Thanks

It's impossible to return something that you haven't yet received.

Once a return is closed another can't be opened on the same item.

When the item arrives, don’t open it you and take it to the post office(if it was shipped usps) and mark it “return to sender”. The tracking info will continue the journey back to the seller. 

Otherwise you can open a return AFTER the item arrived “ordered by mistake”.

If you started a return and it was closed, there's nothing else you can do through Ebay.

If you paid through Pay Pal open a case through them.

Did you actually wait for the item to be delivered to you?

If not you opened the return too early

Is That what happened?

You will not be able to open a second return with eBay only one case can be opened per item

Why would he open a case through PayPal? He just said he ordered it by mistake.

Because the OP can't open another return on eBay since the one the OP opened was closed. 
The only other way to get a refund is if the OP does it through PayPal if he paid that way or credit card dispute.

EBay considers "return to sender" refusals as Undeliverable.

Sellers are not required to refund on Undeliverable shipments.

When you receive it, open a Claim as Not As Described.

The seller will be required to send you return shipping and to refund when they get it back.

Your mistake will cost them time and money.

That being said, it was YOU who made the first mistake of ordering and paying for something you subsequently decided you did not want.

Putting the seller to no little expense and concern.

In future, read the listing carefully before ordering.
