To those who refund without requiring a return.

Sellers beware...

We just had a customer open a return saying that the wrong item was sent.  He said he ordered one size and received a different size.  He included a picture (dumb **bleep**).  The picture is so obviously altered.  The size is stamped on the item.  In the picture, you can tell the size is typed on the picture.  Of course, if he returned the item (which I don't think he plans to do) we would see the correct size stamped on the item.

I know there are some sellers who just refund the item instead of going through the time and cost of having the item returned.  I'm thinking he hoped we were one of those sellers.  Nothing else makes any sense.

Bottom line, watch your returns.  Specially the ones that claim 'not as described'.  Most of the false claims just want to get away with not having to pay return shipping.  Not this guy...

I know it's easier to just let some things slide. But I hate injustices.  It bothers me when someone lies and tries to take advantage of someone or the system.  So, I take the extra steps to report these false claims, to have the return shipping charged back to the buyer, or whatever it takes.

I'm all for fairness.  If we made a mistake, we will cover it in whatever way the buyer wants.  Accordingly, if the buyer makes a mistake, they should be responsible for any additional costs to set it right.  On the flip side, if a buyer is completely honest and sincere, they will find a seller that's a lot more flexible.

I'm just tired of being trampled on and watching the bad guys finish first.  Maybe if we were all a little more stricter in not letting these jerks get away with their antics, there might be less trampling.

There’s nothing for sellers to beware of

I always require my buyers return the item for a refund.
If the item is inexpensive, some sellers might refund without requiring a return.
There are sellers who also allow eBay to take over the return request and will refund the buyer, usually on the sellers dime, allowing the buyer to also keep the item, those sellers receive a defect for not handling their returns.

To those who refund without requiring a return.

While I understand your point, that's a very generic way of putting it. I am a seller who always replies- return for refund. However, if an item sells for $9.00 it's not advisable to spend another $6.00 or more just to get the item back. Every sale I have my buyers pay for shipping, I've never done free shipping. If it's an inexpensive item that cannot be resold, what's the point in paying for it to be shipped back.

Life is full of injustices and when it is feasible to fight than I'm absolutely on board, but not every return means it needs to be the sword you chose to die on. I've rarely had any returns in over 20 years and each time I gladly sent a return label and resold the item, so I am only saying I may not do so if the return label price makes this a loss. These are individual decisions each seller must make themselves. Best of luck to you....
