Hi! I sent the wrong item.
Buyer started a return.
I apologized and immediately bought a new label to ship the correct item and I added the new tracking number to the sold listing that is marked delivered.
The buyer was so kind and understanding.
They started a return and printed a return label and they insisted on returning it even after I told them I didn’t want it back.
So, I will be required to refund when the wrong item arrives back at my house. Correct?
And then they get the item for free? Which I guess is fine since I messed up.

Yup you refund and they get the item "free". (other than the inconvenience of wrong item sent/return)
and you are out postage .............. times 3.
On the + side you will get that "wrong item sent" back to perhaps sell.
