Seller had negative feedback removed

So I bought a pair of shoes sized 11 but they ran very small and felt like a 10. This wasn’t noted anywhere in the description or title. I tried returning them and the seller refused, so I asked Ebay to step in.

They didn’t honor the return or appeal but gave me a $50 coupon (half of the total transaction). I still have the shoes but doubt they will resell.

I left a negative feedback and review and when I checked yesterday it was gone. Is Ebay seriously this dishonest and protecting shady sellers now?

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

You probably used a word or wordage and got censured by eBay or the seller was able to remove it.

And it's probably to your benefit....as sellers can read what you left and may think twice about selling something to you.

I never heard of eBay giving a $50. coupon before.

I would have done "item not as described" and that's it. Return the shoes for a refund.

No returns does not mean no returns.

I think we are missing part of the whole story.

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

The thing is it went through ebay authentication and customer service took their side. I half expected that but having negative feedback removed is corrupt as hell.

I didn’t use any profanity or insulting language, just described that experience, their no return policy, and that I didn’t recommend that seller.

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

I don't think you are doing things correctly.  I wish I knew the whole story... but negative reviews are often removed because you use profanity, or you make inappropriate comments.  If you keep your review to simple things that are true such as:   "I purchased these shoes in a size 12, and they did not fit, so I tried to return them, but my request was denied, I am highly unsatisified with this purchase".  There isn't anything they can do really unless your exhibiting abusive buying tendencies or you have violated ebay protocols of buying behaviors!   But if you call the seller names, or try to defame them somehow, that's when your review can be removed.  As for the return... If the shoes were expensive and went through authenticiation, then you can't return them as "Not as described" because the shoes were authenticated before being sent to you....  If the buyer had no returns, and the shoes went through authentication it gets a little more tricky, but eBay can still require the buyer to honor a return.  Good luck to you, and I hope your next purchase is smoother.

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

Pretty sure the feedback is removed when the buyer loses an appeal.

Appears all was following eBay policies.

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

I thought there was more to the story.

Yes...authentication means no returns. A no win for the buyer.

Maybe one cannot leave negative feedback as well through authentication. That would be new to me.

The $50. coupon is news to me...never heard that before.

That is terrible policy and I’ll be avoiding shoes with that tag from now on.

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

If the seller doesn't  accept returns, then all sales are final if it went through eBay Authentication.

You should get measurements in addition to a label size before you buy something where all sales are final.. I have a closet full of shoes sized 8, 8-1/2, 9 and and they all fit the same despite the label sizes are different. Different widths, too.

Why do you think the seller should have known they run small?

Someone suggesting to file not as described is futile. If they ordered an 11 and the label says 11 they got what was described. It's not as described if they bought an 11 and the seller sent a 10.

I think eBay was very generous to give you a $50 voucher. You can resell them. You can even use the seller's  pictures.

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

Sellers aren't psychic and have know way of knowing how something will fit everyone who might buy it. If a shoe is labeled a size 11 one person may buy it and finds that it fits perfect, another may feel it is too small for their foot. If you need specific measurements and they aren't provided then you should always ask.

The only way I would say a person has/should have a case is if the seller does provide measurements and they are incorrect. An Adidas size 11 may not be the same as a Nike size 11, a dress shoe in size 11 from one designer may not fit the same as another designer, so ultimately there really is no such thing as a definite size. I don't buy many shoes online because of that.

@lucia2512

If the shoes were "as described" as to size and condition, the seller's no return policy trumps your claim.

I know I can't buy shoes online because each style and each manufacturer sizes shoes differently and I have to try them on.

As a seller of the same items, I would have expected you to understand that!

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

They appealed and lost the appeal. Any unfavorable feedback would be removed when an appeal is lost.

Re: Seller had negative feedback removed

If a buyer wanted to return an item that doesn’t fit I would accept the return, even if my policy is no returns. I would expect a seller of the same items to understand THAT

Hi @lucia2512

Buyers cannot leave a seller any feedback if they lose a claim.  [And negative or neutral feedback will be removed if it is left before the buyer loses a claim.]

So if you filed a claim that eBay decided in favor of the seller ... then that is the reason your neg was removed.
