Returns unaccepted

So I never allow returns with my orders to start, and just recently I sold an action figure. It got delivered then two days later I got a notification they wanted to return the item because they "bought it by mistake" then in the description it said "it's supposed to be this figure" when it was clearly listed as the one they received. I already closed the return since I don't accept them to begin with. Do I need to do anything else?

What you do is hope they don't open a chargeback with their Credit Card or PayPal.

If it was not an expensive item, I would not worry about it.

If the cost was significant and they open a chargeback with their Credit Card issuer,  you are probably going to be refunding and the buyer won't have to send the item back to you.

And they can still leave negative feedback.

@xarduinx

For a remorse reason (which changed my mind was), you were okay in denying the return.

Although you have the option of declining the request, you could have accepted it with the buyer paying return shipping. And since you charge separately for shipping, you don't have to refund the original shipping payment. So accepting the return would only give a refund of the purchase price.

Note that if the buyer had claimed a NAD (not as described) reason to return it, you wouldn't have an option. If you denied that, the buyer would ask ebay to step in and ebay would either have the buyer return it anyway (at your expense) or they'd let the buyer keep the item plus use your money for a refund.

They marked it as bought by mistake. But what do I do if someone DOES open a NAD claim? Just to clarify the item was exactly what they paid for. They said it like they bought the wrong one.

I don't know why they are even able to open a request for a return since I have them disabled. But yeah. That sucks. I hope nothing happens. 😕 The item was what they ordered. They basically just said "I bought the wrong one"

If the buyer opens a Item Is Not As Described type return case, you have choices.

1. You can refund the buyer now and let the buyer keep the item. eBay refunds the final value fees on the sale to you, the seller.

2. If you want the item back before refunding, accept the return and make sure a prepaid return label is available in the return case. The buyer returns the item and then you refund in full. eBay refunds the final value fees on the sale to you, the seller.

Seller protection:
Top Rated Sellers who accept 30 day returns and sellers who offer free 30 day returns can do partial refunds, up to 50%, if the item is returned in a condition different than when you shipped it.

3. Do nothing, contest the case or allow eBay to handle the case, eBay will close the return, refund the buyer and allow the buyer to keep the item. You also receive a serious defect on your seller account for having eBay step in and refund, thus doing your job as a seller. And, eBay keeps the final value fees for the transaction.

Ebay allows them to open a request because many sellers with "no return" policies will often still accept a return since they really don't lose anything other than a bit of time and having to sell the item again.

Again, even when you have a no return policy, by accepting the return, the buyer pays return shipping, and you keep the amount of original shipping (when charged separately) and you get a prorated credit for the FVF.

Yeah, start accepting returns before you get a chargeback.

You do know that, if a buyer opens an NAD case, your "never allow returns" is null and void, right?

If someone should open an INAD, your best bet would be to accept the return - ebay's refund policy trumps any no return stipulations by the seller.  It's exactly as lakefor94 has laid out here.

Block the buyer.

Hope for no feedback from this buyer...if you get something you disagree with their feedback...I suggest not replying to the feedback for everyone can read it.
