Returning an ebay item before collecting it

Hi there 

I bought a collection only item on 29 October. I messaged the seller for a time for the collection but did not hear back. I therefore sought to cancel the order but the seller didn’t respond and eBay closed the case. I have been unwell and so have only just sent a return request now. The seller has 3 days to respond. Will I be able to ask eBay to step in after this? I have paid for the item but did not hear back from the seller. Am I entitled to the same protections for collection only items? Will I get my money back?

If you don't have it, why did you file for a return?

Because I tried to cancel the order as the seller did not get back to me but he did not respond to the cancellation to give me my money back. I have therefore started a return 

what should I have done?

You should have filed an item not received case (INR). You paid for an item that you did not receive.

Filing a return complicates things a bit. You have things more unpleasant than needed for yourself.  Your best hope is for the seller to ignore you and eBay will step in and refund you after 3 days.

What exactly do you plan to return? When you open a return you have a certain amount of time to return the item to get a refund so if there is nothing to return........
