Returning a Counterfeit Watch!

I bought a watch that was deemed counterfeit by two experts independently. The seller and eBay are asking me to mail it back through USPS for a refund which is illegal. 

What should I do?

Have you opened a case through Money Back Gaurantee as INAD? If so and you're asked to return it ? Then return it. How else would you get your money back? It is the sale of counterfeit items that is illegal. You would be returning an item that is significantly NOT as Described. eBay would never have anyone do anything illegal.

If you don't receive your refund within 3 days of seller receiving the return you can request eBay to step in to get your money back.

Not sure what's illegal about returning an item that's not as described.

Lol, I thought this was settled in here over a decade ago..

It is not illegal to RETURN a counterfeit item using USPS.  What is illegal is for the seller to use USPS  to traffic counterfeit  goods. 

There are many things that are illegal like radar detectors are illegal in Virginia but you can still mail one there.

Also, USPS asks only if there are any  liquids, flammable, or hazardous material inside the package. They don't ask if there are any liquids, flammable, hazardous material  or counterfeit goods inside the package.
