Return question and fees

I sold the solid 14k gold earrings and before she bought it, she say she has some gold allergies but she really want these earrings and give it a try and if it bothers her, can she return it?

I say yes. I know because I am allergic to metals too.

So she bought it and had it for a week and today she email me saying she worn on a weekend and her ears are swollen and red ….she visit a doctor and doctor say, she can only wear Platinum so she has to return…but she say she will pay return shipping….

I will loose on shipping no matter what….send priority, signature and insurance $15.30

She say she can just mail to me not going through ebay…

I told her to go through ebay return process.

because I am afraid I may not get my fees credit back to me…if that happens, I loose over $50

and I told her to choose where asking reason for returning….changed mind or found something better than, ebay won’t force me to pay return shipping….

is that right?

I told her I will eat the shipping cost no matter what..she gets full refund so…she say she want to pay return shipping to be fair.

if she still not want to go through ebay, and I refund her 100% will I get my fees back?

I asked her to use ebay return process …I read somewhere here if you don’t, you won’t get fees back.

also if she does and she choose reason for return…change her mind or she don’t like it …will I still have to pay for return shipping?

I have no problem on returns but hate loosing money too…I work hard too like everyone else and sellers keep loosing money on shipping left and right when buyer returns on ebay.

I don’t get many returns but few I did and all of them I lost anywhere $12 to $22 on shipping ….

that hurts…when I use priority with insurance and signature for over $100 item…

anyway, thanks.

> if she still not want to go through ebay, and I refund her 100% will I get my fees back?

Yes,
if refunding through the Send Refund flow:

  1. Locate the order in Seller Hub or My eBay Sold.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select Send refund.
  3. Choose a reason for the refund.
  4. Specify a refund amount for the item or for the order.
  5. Enter the desired refund amount, and select Send refund.

You may be eligible for fee credits if you refund the buyer on eBay without eBay stepping in.

According to fee credits if, say buyer returned outside of eBay and:

  • You use the Send refund flow on eBay to fully refund all items in the order, plus original shipping

You’d get:

Final Fee credits:

  • Category (variable) final value fee
  • $0.30 per order fixed amount**

Other fee credits:

  • Promoted Listings Standard fee (if applicable)
  • Additional final value fees for not meeting performance expectations (if applicable)
  • International fee (if applicable)

Note: If there's an open cancellation request, return request, eBay Money Back Guarantee case, a report that an item hasn't arrived, or an open dispute made outside of eBay against an order, then the Send refund option or flow, will not be available. Instead, any refunds must be made through the open request or case, which can be viewed in My eBay Sold, or the Returns, Cancellations, or Requests and disputes tabs in Seller Hub.

Wow -- so she is fully aware that she has a gold allergy, but proceeds with purchasing gold earrings anyway?  Because she really wants those earrings.
