Did you mean:

Buyer lied about reason for return, I receive back an item in different condition.

The buyer claimed my Near Mint record was scratched, sent pictures on the return of a scratched record, and upon receiving the item back, there were no scratches on the record but my record sleeve is badly damaged now. Went from being a $150 item to maybe half that now. I called eBay and they told me to "ask the buyer for permission in regards to a partial refund."

By the way, I'm now paying 20% in fees because of this return instead of the normal rate.

I do not have these issues on Discogs but this seems to be a reoccurring issue here on eBay because the people know they can play the system.

Is this how we should be treated as eBay sellers?

It's tough to sell here, but you surely know that by now.

I'd offer that you revisit your Returns policy. As a TRS, you have the ability to discount the refund by up to 50% when an item returned is destroyed/de-valued... if you only offered (at least) 30-Day Returns. I realize that half doesn't make you whole, but it sure lessens the sting of the (impending) full refund. Good luck moving forward.
