Return - part too heavy for USPS

Help. I took my return box to the post office - was told by clerk that item too heavy for first class service. Now what? Thanks.

What shipping service was used by the seller when he shipped the item to you?

@lestra3588

Anything over 13oz has to go Priority Mail if it is retail rates (the rates paid when you go to mail a package at the post office.)

Commercial rates for sellers are different...anything under 1lb can go first class.

Sorry.

Did you print the return label that was provided to you on eBay?   Those 'return' labels should be able to be used for weights over 13 oz....the clerk may not be aware of that.

If you used the return label provided, you could just drop it in the bin.

So how do I get a prepaid priority label from an ebay vendor in China?

Where on the label does it indicate that so that I can argue my case with a clerk?

If this was a Chinese seller, how could he provide an actual return label?

In that case, I thought the seller was required to reimburse the buyer in advance for the cost of return shipping.

You might have that kind of faith, but I think the package would sit in the bin past the return window. The vendor sent me a fedex label, not a USPS label. But the "To" address on the Fedex label is my own address.

You don't.

If the seller is supposed to pay return shipping, they send you the funds to pay for it.

Knowing China sellers, they won't.

On day four, return to the case and ask Ebay to step in.

Have A Great Day.

Frankly I do not know. The vendor is in China and much of the invoice is in Chinese

@lestra3588

Then, if the item is delivered to you (again) via FedEx... it still shows as a delivered return, no? The seller is who puts the return address into the system. Maybe they're just slow-walking the refund.

@lestra3588

If the seller is in China AND if the return request was b/c the item was not as described, the seller has to give you the money to ship it back to them or they are supposed to refund you without the need to return the item.

If they refuse to refund you or give you the money for the postage, you need to escalate the case on the 4th day.

No, unfortunately @lestra3588 the clerk is mistaken. The USPS first class RETURN SERVICE label is good for up to 70 pounds and 108 inches

You can see this at the last line ^^ on your return label page.

 Where are you mailing the item to?  If you purchased a first class international label to China then the weight limit is 2 lbs.  But first class to China does not have delivery confirmation so there will be no proof that the seller received the item.
