Return label FedEx ? No drop off location near me. How do I return the item ?

eBay automatically chose FedEx for a return label. Never happened before, there are NO FedEx drop off locations within a 25 minute drive. What do you suggest? Can I just drop a FedEx return labeled box at my USPS post office ? Thank you

You can schedule a return pickup through the FedEx website. It will cost you $4.00 and if you don't already have an account with FedEx you'll have to create one.

Will USPS take it ? I’ll try today. I mean the seller mailed me broken eBay certified refurbished item. Should have just bought a new one. Paying an extra $4 to return it doesn’t sound cool. This town really needs a FedEx drop off location if eBay is now only offering FedEx return labels. Guess I’ll use Amazon more 😞   I imagine this will get messy in rural areas.  Thanks for the help.  It’s confusing half of Google says USPS will take FedEx return labeled packages half says they won’t. I’ll just go find out and think twice next time shopping.

If your local USPS is any distance away, why not start by calling them?

And then maybe contact FedEx?

They weren’t open when I asked here, thought I’d ask before USPS opens. Yes I’m planing on leaving it at USPS soon thanks.   I love eBay but this will definitely send me elsewhere when it comes to certain items that are risky like certified refurbished. Wasn’t so certified.   Have a good day.

I know that FedEx & UPS do occasionally hand packages off to USPS for the actual delivery but I don't know if this works the other way around. If you do take the return to USPS I suggest you take it to the counter and hand it to an employee rather than just dropping it into a drop box.

Go online. Sometimes, you can drop off Fed Ex at a store like Walgreens or Staples.  Years ago, I dropped in both of these stores. I am talking about 10 years or more.  So google and see if this service is still available. If yes, make sure that the item is scanned and you get a receipt.

Also if there is a doctor's complex near you and you see FED EX boxes outside.  Look and see if you see a delivery pickup time. If yes, can you be there a few minutes before and see if you can meet the driver. Again, make sure that you get a receipt or at least take a photo of the driver's device once he scans the item.

If the item was delivered by Fed Ex, it would be returned in the same manner. To avoid this issue in the future, avoid sellers that ship Fed Ex or do not even bother by used/refurbished items online anywhere.

What did you find out at the post office, @woodenfishmounts? 

If this was a FedEx Ground Economy (formerly called FedEx SmartPost) label, with both a FedEx tracking number and a USPS tracking number, there's a chance your post office will scan it accepted even though they are not supposed to, because USPS loses money transporting it to the destination instead of letting FedEx take it on the first leg, but you have unusual circumstances.

You can drop it off at the PO, Walgreens, WalMart, Dollar General, Office Depot, Office Max, etc. You can leave it on your porch or in your mailbox with the flag up and the mailman will take it.

You mention PO as in USPS? That don't happen around here in East Texas

What do mean jeez people ?  There’s none of those stores closer than a 40 minute trip not counting going in, while the post office in 2 minutes. Whatever I’ll just not be buying any more items that might need to be returned if it’s FedEx  will try to avoid this in the future. There’s no dual tracking # like on the photo posted.  It’s only a FedEx barcode no address nothing else. Paying the $4 per package for scheduled pick up. Done.  It already took too much time.  What a pain.    

  Will all returns be like this now? I saw two articles saying eBay is switching to FedEx labels for returns automatically? 
I’d definitely buy less here if this is the case.

I never did figure out why they started using FedX for returns. I could see where it could be an advantage for heavier or larger shipments.

I definitely see your point though.

I checked a smaller town just east of where I live and the only FedX drop in town was at a Dollar General. What a joke. They have a walmart but that was not listed.

I am rural but have a UPS/FedX/USPS drop 3.5 miles away. Lucky, I guess. Post office is 15 minutes.

Appreciate all those who gave me a heads up on what to expect. Thank you kindly. I’ll be trying to make sure a seller offers usps or UPS returns if I ever buy something that I suspect might not fit,  be shady or refurbished. Yea no more certified refurbished. No more FedEx only return labels for me.  I have UPS and USPS close the nearest FedEx or affiliate drop is too far.  I’m in a FedEx Bermuda Triangle. Take care

Curious what these new FedEx return labels from eBay look like @woodenfishmounts issued with no regard whether buyers can use them. Can you post an image with personal info removed?
