Return Time Frame and Customer Service

Had a buyer open a return on August 8th.  I have been told via email and by going within the return that they have until August 24th to ship the item back.  It is now the 28th, the return is still not closed out.  Just received notification that returns actually stay open for 15 business days and not the 10 business days that they are relaying to both buyers and sellers.  My buyer literally printed the label and got it scanned today.  So they had access to the label way past the return deadline.  I called CS and was told that they don't know why they give out false information.  They don't know why the IT department can't change the false dates.  They have no clue.  Alls they know is that it's actually 15 business days and the buyer can go into the return and print a label after that until their system closes it down.  How hard is it to change the dates to be transparent?  It's really frustrating trying to run a business on a platform that has no concern for transparency when it comes to their sellers or buyers for that matter.  It's not their product or money so why do they care.

Return Time Frame and Customer Service

I made a purchase recently and, of course, was given an estimated delivery date. The seller took forever to ship, and every time I looked at the estimated delivery date, it would change to later and later. The package was eventually delivered--several days late--but eBay had changed the estimated delivery date to the point where it appeared the item had been delivered on time.

I can live with delays due to carrier issues, but when this was clearly the fault of the seller, it rankles me, and eBay covering for the seller was particularly irritating.

So, the frustration goes both ways.

Changes to handling return requests that appear abandoned
Starting April 1, 2020, we will no longer close returns early at the request of a seller when the buyer has not shipped the item back. Instead, we will wait to ensure buyers have sufficient time to provide proof items they requested to return were shipped back.

There needs to be a clear timeline.  I've been told that buyers have 10 days to print the label, this is not true.  I've been told and received messages from eBay that they have 3 weeks to return the item, this is not true.  No transparency.  How hard is it to give an accurate date?  Why message the seller and buyer one date then go by a different one?  Why not make this clear?  This buyer was able to print the postage 20 days after the return was opened.  Why?  I was told it was a glitch, a ticket has been opened.  I was told that it isn't a glitch that no ticket has been opened.  The buyer opened the return on August 8th.  Label was sent August 8th.  They were able to print the label and get it scanned on August 28th.  If this is the new protocol that is fine, but they need to let buyers and sellers know and give proper information out.  Why is this so hard?  Every return that I've had opened gives a return date within 14 days.  If that isn't the case then why are they saying this?
