Need advice on a customer return. Buyer ordered a supplement and wants to return because expiration is 10/24. The buyer is saying I did not list the expiration on the auction. I responded back to the buyer and told them that I have a picture showing the expiration and also in the auction under Item Specifics expiration is listed. I told the buyer to refer back to the auction listing and included screen shots. Also, told the buyer that using the recommended dosage on the bottle of 2 capsules twice daily = 4 tablets daily. This is 120 capsules in a 30 day period. This a count of 100 capsules in the bottle. This bottle will be done in less than 30 days following the recommendation.
The buyer responded back "the photos that u posted and did not see the one with expiration date nor you posted on the listing."
What do experts think is the best course of action?
Thanks!

eBay's requirement is the item is delivered before it expires.
Your listing photo and item specifics show a Sept 2024 expiration date.
If buyer wants to return it would be a remorse return since your item is as-described.
Has the buyer filed a return request or is this communication all through eBay messages?
I could understand the buyer's disappointment at the close date if the date wasn't disclosed in the listing - but it was disclosed, so this is a matter of the buyer not reviewing the listing details before purchase.

The listing does show Sept 2024 and the item I sent actually has a 10/24 expiration in the auction listing. I did state the expiration under Item Specifics of the auction. The buyer also sent a photo and clearly shows 10/24 expiration on the bottle. The buyer started communication through Ebay messages and did file a return request yesterday.
Do I need to have Ebay step in and handle?

No, you don't want Ebay to handle it.
They will refund the buyer from your account and let them keep it.
Accept the return and have them provide a shipping label.

Ok. I will pay the shipping cost and accept the return.
Thanks for the help.

The buyer might still have a supply of pills and was expecting to use these maybe in December. Just a thought.
Buyer might have made a purchase on cell phone eBay app which is not easy to see photos and description does not show but a buyer needs to scroll down on item and click on the description.
Will buyer give you a positive feedback?
In my opinion expiration dates do not mean one cannot use the product...but some people out there are so picky.
Have you tried a partial refund?
I would do the return...eBay prefer seller and buyer work it out.
Hopefully, there hasn't been too much back and forth emails on this....feedback plays into that sometimes.
eBay can step in and give refund and buyer keeps item since you have that "no returns"...
No returns does not mean no returns.
Good luck.

I just went ahead and had Ebay send the label and will refund the buyer once I get the item back. You are correct on the expiration. I just find it a little absurd a buyer can claim a return when the item is not near expiration and if they follow the recommended dosage, they would run out in 30 days.
Would I have any other options if I did change auctions to "Does Accept Returns" and have return fee? Or can buyers still file a return request and not have to pay the return fee?
Thanks!

I do take returns and buyer pays for return shipping....you might do that one.
Although a buyer can still have a seller pay for return shipments.
I never had a return of anything. LOL.
Return shipping on a buyer doing it...let's just say it is a hassle and most buyers won't even bother with it.

I will start doing that after experiencing my first return.

They can still file "not as described" return requests and force you to pay for the return label @shizah even if you have a 30 day buyer pays returns policy. It all comes down to the reason on the return request - that's what eBay looks at.
Make sure you report the buyer for abusing the MBG.

@wastingtime101 - Where do I report the buyer for this? I could not find anything.

On your orders page @shizah , next to the transaction, under actions there is a report buyer link.
Or you can click the big blue button here: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/resolving-buyer-issues/reporting-issue-buyer?id=4084

I don't know why I didn't see that? Thanks!
