Retract a bid

I’d like to retract a bid. It is low only 9.99 but the dish is chipped. Although, It is posted in the listing however I did not notice. I contacted the seller and they stated “maybe I’d pay more attention next time I bid” (how nice). They have 1 day on this listing plus can relist. It is not about the money. I just think it’s unsafe since I am giving it to my 12 year old (she bakes)and I don’t want her to get cut. Please help. Ty

Unless the item has already ended, you don't need the seller to help retract a bid. https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/bidding/retracting-bid?id=4013&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-1925...

Re: Retract a bid

Yeah, eBay frowns on bid retractions that are  result of not reading the description.  And, it's probably to late if there isn't enough time left.  Read the timelines here: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/bidding/retracting-bid?id=4013&st=12&pos=1&query=Retracting%20a%20b...

If you can't retract now, I'd suggest that, if you win, you ask the seller one time to cancel the sale.   https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/buyers-can-cancel-order/buyers-can-cancel-order?id=4004&st=12&pos=2...

If they refuse, don't pay and take the unpaid item strike. As long as you don't get another one in the next year, your buying ability won't be affected. If you have 2 in a year, some sellers will block you from buying their stuff.

Re: Retract a bid

We can not see what the item is so we do not know if an auction or a buy it now..

If auction you can retract your bid: If to late in the time you can contact seller and have them cancel bids.

If buy it now request seller to cancel transaction : they do not have to...

@cccc7274

You really don’t have a valid reason to retract your bid.

You may not realize retracted bids can reflect poorly on the seller. Other bidders  can think it’s the sellers’ shill doing the retracting.

If it’s ‘only $9.99’, take your lumps and let it be a lesson to pay more attention next time.
How big is the chip that a 12 year old who uses a hot oven, electric mixer, maybe a hot stove, can’t work around it?

Your daughter can do more than you give her credit for.

You can retract your bid here by clicking the blue "Retract a bid" button if you've enough time left.

If no other reasons fit @cccc7274 you can select the "Other" reason instead to retract your bid.
